Minnesotans are the face of a new campaign by a national network of anti-LGBTQ organizations. The campaign, #askmefirst, features Christians imploring schools, businesses, and transgender activists to ask them for permission before allowing transgender people to use the bathroom.
A video released with the campaigns launch last week features Emily and Jamie. The video doesnt say where the duo are from. Their story is about a school that didnt ask them first before making steps to be inclusive of transgender and gender nonconforming youth. The two parents formerly had children at Nova Classical Academy in St. Paul and were outspoken critics of what they call gender confusion. Both appeared at a press conference earlier this year with Republican Rep. Glenn Gruenhagen and spoke in support of barring transgender people from using the bathroom.
In the video released last week, they spoke of a gender confused student. Emily said, This is a battle for our childrens innocence Its a battle that I think is worth fighting and I will continue it for other peoples children.
The Ask Me First campaign was developed by the Family Policy Alliance formerly called Citizenlink which provides a network of financial and political assistance for Family Policy Councils throughout the United States including the Minnesota Family Council.
The latter sent out an email last week stating:
Ask Me First provides women an opportunity to share their real life stories in the hope that other women and families nationwide will have courage to speak up for common sense safety and privacy policies in public school restrooms, locker rooms, housing, government buildings, on sports teams, etc.
Their stories are also meant to send clear messages to school administrators and legislators that there are serious consequences for moms, daughters, students, athletes, sexual abuse survivors and businesswomen when men are allowed to access womens private facilities!

(115,856 posts)They have their panties in a wad because they are afraid men will be allowed to use women's restrooms. Except, you morons, the "men" you are so worried about do not identify as men. They were born biologically male but regard themselves as female. As far as anyone should be concerned, unless you insist on checking in their pants to see what's there, they are women, and therefore ought to be able to use women's rest rooms to do the same things that other women do in rest rooms. There won't be any actual men in the women's bathrooms or locker rooms. Allowing transgender people to use the facilities designated for the gender they identify with will not result in pervy men dressing up as women to peek through the stall doors at women peeing, and if they turn up in women's locker rooms they would certainly be noticed immediately. Where are trans women supposed to do their business, by the way? In the men's room, where they would be quickly removed because they are evidently women?
I can't believe how mean and stupid and hung up on sexuality these "Christians" are.

(11,238 posts)In women's bathrooms, everyone uses stalls so nobody sees anyone's peepees anyway. If a cisgender man were to go to the trouble of dressing like a woman so he can enter women's bathrooms, all he's going to see is women washing their hands. I swear the whole stupid subject is just an excuse for repressed bible-thumpers to think about sex.

They seriously need to get over themselves or just stay home with their precious offspring so there is no chance of them being contaminated by real life.
