UW's Nigel Hayes: 'Racism towards black people isn't getting 'worse,' it's getting filmed'
Wisconsin basketball star Nigel Hayes took to Twitter Wednesday night to take a strong stand against racism in the wake of a week of police-involved deadly shootings.
Blacks riot when people are murdered without consequences... Whites riot when sports teams win championships..., Hayes tweeted Thursday night, one of a flurry of 44 tweets about racial issues, police shootings and double standards.
Charlotte, North Carolina erupted this week in protests and violence after the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott by police, the third such officer-involved shooting of African-American men this week.
Police officials claim Scott, 43, was holding a gun and refused to obey the orders of police officers, while Scott's relatives insist he was unarmed and holding a book. A dashcam video of the incident has yet to be released to the public.
