(37,919 posts)I always ask them to do the endoscopy first and get a chuckle out it. As they knock you out for it, you don't feel much.
Best of luck and hope it is a minor problem.

(60,356 posts)My last colonoscopy was a month ago- At least this time, they didn't fuck up and tell me to go off my blood thinners for ten days prior. They did that in 2011, and it got me my first genuine bona fide heart attack. A cardiologist came down to the emergency room and asked what idiot told me to go off the blood thinners for ten days? I noticed that this time, the form said FIVE days. Somebody learned their lesson. It takes ten days for the white blood cells to generate to the point where heart patients with stents will have their stents clog up to the point where their function is negated.
Both my parents and ALL their siblings had cancer. With me, it's not a question of "if," but "when." My wife has already had it once, and her mom has had it twice. They beat it. Hope never dies until we do.
Hang in there, and let us know! And NEVER doubt for a moment that modern medicine has a good chance of beating whatever it is you have! They can do all sorts of amazing stuff these days.

(2,218 posts)I know how debilitating abdominal pain can be. I hope you find out today what the cause of your pain is.
Endoscopy and colonoscopy did not find anything wrong with my digestive system. My pain was only occasional, then about 2 months ago was very intense one night.
At the emergency room they discovered that I had an abdominal hernia. Since repairing the hernia I have experienced no pain.
I still don't understand why neither my doctor nor the endocrinologist figured out that I had a hernia. The surgeon who repaired my hernia told me that people can have them for years and not know it. That is what happened to me. If your procedures today don't find anything, have your abdomen checked out for a hernia.

Also - it might be interesting to look up old neighbors where you grew up to see if they have had experience with cancers too. A friend had cancer strike her and all other siblings as well as their childhood friends. Their house was under the drift of a copper smelter and pulp mills.

Not ulcers, and the doc insists it's not from the Xarelto I was taking.

(23,524 posts)I have had stomach problems for many years. And my main symptom is pain. I've been scoped up and down and all they come up with is gastritis and irritable bowel. I found the word, "dyspepsia" online and that describes it perfectly.
I will tell you what is helping me. Standard Process and their glandulars have been incredible for me. I am taking A-F Betafood right now. My acupuncturist said my gallbladder was weak, (not one of the several gastro docs told me that). Anyway I noticed a big difference after a few days!
Also Enzymedica "Digest Gold"
Trust me I know constant pain in the stomach. I've been taking opiates for years for it.
