How things have changed: if the Rodney King beating had happened today...

even *with* videotape, it would barely have been noticed for more than a few days.

I can't count the number of similar incidents we've seen over the past decade that have gone by with barely a peep.

And even more - they'd have had the wherewithal to find out everything they could about King's past, and find as many "thuggish" looking photos as they could.
