Hurricane humor - so a media crew went to a fishing village

in the parish expecting the worst of Matthew (Portland). Some of the fisherman have moved their boats and other equipment but some will never be convinced that a storm is coming.

One showed the journalist a chicken on the beach and said nothing coming or 'dat chicken would never come a waterfront'. We were howling with laughter.

Word is herb is in short supply in the city but di aroma around the neighborhood is 'pungent'

All is well so far. The worst comes tonight and we should only experience tropical storm winds. The problem will be rain and sea surge.

I would trust the chicken.

I went to bowling league one night after watching evening news. Weatherman (not a chicken) had said "weather okay for evening activities, 40 degrees, light showers".
I came out of bowling 3 hours later, there was 10 inches of snow on my car! Took me 45 minutes to drive 4 miles to my house.

To this day, I can't watch that guy.

Once in October as well TWC stated that a hurricane was going to hit Kingston - we actually went to a cricket match - not one drop of rain. Sometimes they get it wrong - not this time.

And all of your neighbors.

Keep your umbrella handy -- not that it will do much good in a tropical storm.

Love you madly.

I think Guantanamo will take the direct hit. Rain and sea surge will be our major problems and it will be worse for Haiti.

And I hope it stays well out to sea after it goes beyond the Bahamas. I'm in
Central Florida and don't expect much more than bad weather until Saturday.
My neighbors have family on the eastern tip of Cuba and the projection shows
it will pass directly over them. They don't have much now and they will most
likely have less in a few days.
