Don't underestimate the Rethug rage

For decades conservative politicians and political pundits have been telling white Christian males the country belong to them but that 'those people' (anyone not a white Christian male) are trying to take away their rightful ownership and change things for the worse. White Christian males have been told that 'those people' are trying to destroy the American way of life, and of course the American way of life that the politicians and pundits have been trying to sell them is not surprisingly the America of the 1950s and before. Back then anyone who wasn't a white Christian male had far less power and influence than now. In fact, some think the ideal American way of life predates women's suffrage, as some of those politicians and pundits have theorized that men are driven by logic but women by emotion, and consequently female voters have been one of the driving forces for changing things for the worse.

Fear is a great motivator, to the point where many of the staunchest believers these days aren't white Christian males, but also females, and people who don't really care about religion unless there is a chance to demonize Muslims as terrorists. Their beliefs have solidified as the rational part of the country continues to move to the left. Rational people realize that white Christian males aren't the masters but that everyone has equal value, regardless of their race, religion, or gender.

Things began to reach a boiling point in 2008. Rethugs were enraged for two reasons. Not only was the new POTUS an African-American, in charge of what white Christian males thought was rightfully theirs, but the conservative politicians that had flapped their gums so much about 'those people' taking the country away and ruining things seemed to have either very little interest or very little ability to put a stop to things. The person who had run against the 'Halfrican,' as some of the more deplorable Rethugs began calling our new President, had been John McCain. Many Rethug voters considered him more a Democrat than a Republican, and they began to turn on the Republican establishment for having supported him.

That's when the Tea Party movement arose, and it sought to 'take the country back' from 'those people' and to make 'America great again.' It was a direct response to both liberals and ineffective Republican leadership 'allowing' an African-American man to become the leader of what the Rethugs consider a country for white Christian males.

Not much has changed for Rethugs in the last years. President Obama won his second term, and now, shock, horror, we might even have a female President. The white Christian males and their accomplices expected the Republican establishment to give them another McCain or Romney for 2016, and they consequently decided to take matters into their own hands.

Donald Trump. He managed to brush establishment favorites like Jeb Bush aside during the primaries and he has managed to keep his poll numbers above the single digits because he embodies the Rethug rage. The rage against 'those people' and the rage against the Republican establishment for not doing more against 'those people.'

His outrageous comments have not turned Trump supporters away in droves because Trump is actually saying what they think. Even his latest comments about women won't have much of an effect, because some Trump supporters think exactly like him, and others would still support him even if he shot someone in the middle of the street, as long as he'll continue to promise to make 'America great again' by 'taking back' the country from 'those people.'

This is why Trump has brushed off controversy after controversy and even now still has a chance in November, as illogical as might seem. That's because Rethug voters are the ones voting based on emotion rather than logic. Some believe that a President Clinton would change this country forever and all hope of realizing that white Christian male American dream of the pre-1960s will be lost forever. Others are willing to fight on to 'take America back' from 'those people,' and if there is a President Clinton, I expect their vicious hatred and rage in 2020 to overshadow that of 2016.

Don't underestimate the Rethug rage. Donald Trump is not done just yet, and even if he loses in November - especially if he loses in November - don't expect the Rethug rage to go away any time soon.

These Republican cocksuckers could still win this. With everything from the entrenched voter suppression algorithms in place, to the unmercifully short memories of the Republican and Independent electorate, to the effects of the hurricane on Florida voter registration - the bastards could still pull this off. All Trump has to do is shut his mouth - and nothing more - and his numbers rise. That's the unfair truth of it all. If this was 72 hours before the election, I'd claim victory. But with a whole month left - along with the possibility of more damaging Wikileaks disclosure - I'm not counting my chickens yet.

I see the anger in some men in my community. It has brought together men and given them a camaraderie they have not experienced before. They will have to keep going back to each other to get their shot of hate adrenaline for a long time. I see anger boiling over no matter who wins the election. To them, it feels too good to stop.

You can bet it will be along sex lines. They'll do everything they can to enslave women. If a man can go home and treat his unpaid domestic servant like shit, he won't notice anyone picking his pocket, sending his job overseas, stealing his social security, or even grabbing his home and charging him double rent.

because of the establishment candidates they offered in the last two cycles: a doddering McCain tied to a ditzy Palin followed by the effete Romney, who was pretty much forced on them as being more "electable" than their alternatives. Trump is their guy, someone they forced back on the kingmakers and they're not going to desert him just because he brags about being a sexual predator who wants to have incest with his own daughter.

These guys have taken the brunt of the economic hits over the last 40+ years of conservative economic misrule from both parties and the only way to make a lot of the rage dissipate is to reverse that. Regressive, reactionary governments try to accomplish that by enslaving women and sometimes that works. That's why his foul mouth about women won't bother them.

If Trump is defeated, then Clinton is going to have to take this very, very seriously. Progressive policy designed to rebuild infrastructure to attract domestic industry combined with living wages are the only things that are going to restore enough hope out there to dissipate the rage. Without these policies, we're looking at violent revolution at some point and no one will like the outcome of that.

"GOPe" is the T/Tea code word for "GOP elite" in which they lump the entire leadership of the party.

RINO is code for Republicans In Name Only; again the entire leadership of the GOP.

If the GOP want to survive they are going to carve off their Rump / tRump faction. They need complete and total reform, including and starting with their principles and continuing with their lack of intellect -- their total embrace of stupidity and idiotic belief systems (Kenya, islamophobia, death panels, black helicopters, climate change denial, ...).

Regardless of what happens on November 8th enough of the stupid
party. Everyone on that list is a globalist Uniparty shill. Trump is
taking on the Democrats, Republicrats and the Mediacrats. Time to come
up with names of the new nationalist, true third party we’ll be
forming. I’m going to vote for Trump and leave the rest of my ballot
blank. No Republican even down to dog catcher deserves our votes
anymore.

Thinking that DT's latest controversy has wiped out his chances of winning and becoming complacent would be a very unwise position to take. Dems need to continue to hammer DT and continue all efforts to GOTV.

I agree with your post 100%. It echos a post I made yesterday.

Remember, the vast majority of Trump supporters get their news from FOX and all they hear is Crooked Hillary and how great Trump is. I am still, to this day, hearing about Hillary and Benghazi, Hillary and her leaked classified emails. Hillary destroying emails while under subpoena, Hillary and Bill killing Vince Foster, and on and on and on.

The fact that Trump has only slogans and no real policy, the fact that he changes positions more often than most people change their underwear, the fact that he doesn't seem to have even a basic grasp the the US Constitution or of geo-politics doesn't matter to them.

They cheer when he threatens a foreign country that if their sailors make a rude gesture to a US Naval Warship 'he'll blow them out of the water', that he will drop countries from NATO, that he will 'build a wall' and somehow make another country pay for it. All that matters is that somehow, corrupt fraudster that he is, he will restore White (Male) Power.

GOTV!!
