(63,220 posts)A few days ago I was pleasantly surprised to see a bank of solar panels atop a nearby house in my community, a place not generally known for its environmental consciousness.

(957 posts)At least when it comes off the array. There is a unit called the "Inverter" that converts the DC to AC and synchronizes the phase, both needed to tie it into the home's power and the grid.
