Prosecutors said Tuesday they will charge Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio with criminal contempt of court over immigration patrols.
The announcement was made the day before early voting starts in Sheriff Joe Arpaios bid for a seventh term as metro Phoenixs top law enforcer, his toughest fight yet after more than two decades in office. Arpaio, who calls himself Americas Toughest Sheriff, made a name for himself cracking down on illegal immigration and forcing jail inmates to wear pink underwear.
The charges were revealed at a hearing to discuss issues raised by another judges request that Arpaio face criminal contempt charges after refusing to stop targeting Latinos in patrols.

(16,296 posts)Seven terms in office and each term he has had this or that charge against him. Yet, still no jail time nor is he removed from office. That badge shields a lot of crime and misdeeds.

(8,203 posts)usually at night..offices being cleaned..it was awful..people being stopped for no reason - other than the color of their skin.."Papers Please" - that is where that phrase came from..
We got Russell Pearce, one of his cronies recalled.. 2011: On November 7, 2011, the night before his recall election, Mesa voters were flooded with robo-calls from Pearce's supporters, informing them that both Pearce and his challenger Jerry Lewis were Republicans.
2011:
On November 8, 2011, Pearce was defeated in the recall election by challenger, Republican Jerry Lewis.
And this gem -
Former Arizona Sen. Russell Pearce has resigned as vice chairman of the state's Republican Party over controversial comments he made about birth control.
You put me in charge of Medicaid, the first thing Id do is get Norplant, birth-control implants, or tubal ligations," Pearce said on his talk radio show. "Then well test recipients for drugs and alcohol, and if you want to [reproduce] or use drugs or alcohol, then get a job.
Oh, and this gem -
Disgusting duo at the time - time for Arpaio to go..
