OMG, I miss them. I can just imagine their pithy comments on Donald Trump and the GOP train wreck. But the good die young (or too soon), and the incredibly bad seem to be immortal.

(156,985 posts)You can bet, that whatever they would say would be delivered with no punches pulled.
I am sure that both of them would find incredibly clever ways to denigrate the mess that the R party has become.

They would get straight to the matter.

(26,447 posts)Ann Richard's best quips:
George H. W. Bush: "George was born with a silver foot in his mouth."
George Bush: "George was born on third base, and thought he hit a triple."
And the putative bumper sticker during her re-election (TEX-GOV) campaign against George Bush: "I AM THE QUEER ANN SENT TO GET YOUR GUNS."

(959 posts)whom I imagine feels much like I did after my own mothers death. Things would happen and I would just be bursting to talk to her about it, and she wasn't there. No doubt Ann's daughter is feeling the same way. Her mother would be livid right now, and Ms. Ivins would be typing reams of material. We need them.

Relive it.

(26,447 posts)Too many good memories for my old addled brain. Memories of when Texas was a good place, other than twisters and rattlers. Before it was invaded by the Bu$h clan.
I got to know Barbara Jordan fairly well. I would love to hear Congresswoman Jordan's comments on Mr. D.J. Trump. But, more importantly, I would really LOVE to hear Barbara Jordan's comments on the speeches by Michelle Obama, and President Obama. Again, the good die young.
The last time I saw Barbara Jordan, it was close-up. I put her in a Learjet in DC, and flew her to Houston. I felt her weight, and smelled her sweet breath. That was in about 1980. She lived many more years. New DUers will say "WTF?," but old DUers will remember (I joined DU 5/2001, the same day as Will Pitt).
Barbara Jordan's last days were not pretty. But she was. I'd hate to hear what Trump might say about her looks, but I seriously doubt if he knows who she was. His loss, in the long run.

(522 posts)Show this on national tv to remind everyone that the Republican party hasn't changed in over 30 years. We are fighting the same battles over and over. One example is change out "the ozone" with global warming or climate change. All through her speech it was the same story just different characters or different problems. On some subjects we are still faced with increased homelessness and out of control defense spending on worthless planes and ships.
Thank you Ann Richards!

Molly and ANN could be cutting and hilarious at the same time. Loved both of them.
