(33,282 posts)I don't get it. Pseudoscience is pseudoscience - yet too many on the left are just as bad as the right when picking and choosing which science supports their politics.

(23,233 posts)Consumers should have access to information about the food they put in their bodies; I don't see what harm a simple GMO sticker would, even if people choose not to buy a particular product out of fear and ignorance. I also support labeling the country of origin of produce and other food products, ever since China started putting melamine in dog food, and labeling it "protein ", resulting in numerous dogs suffering and dying of kidney failure.
I love seedless watermelon, honey crisp apples and "Cutie" brand mandarins, all of which, I believe, are GMO's.
I also know that I can digest non-GMO corn I get at the farmers market better than the GMO variety sold at the supermarket.

(8,815 posts)the prevailing physics and evolution of the planet. A catfish could never mate with a tomato flower to share DNA.
Label the products and let the consumer decide. Calling the masses mindless is an ad hoc argument.
The science behind determining whether smoking causes cancer required decades of testing and monitoring, and people still smoke despite the warning labels. The warning labels are required after much litigation and opposition.
Not as many smoke these days for a variety of reasons, but none of those reasons include a sense of ethics from the tobacco industry.
If I give you a tank of toxic water and your family starts getting sick, you are going to want to test the next tank of water I sell you. You are going to want to know its source.
It's not about science versus ignorance. It's about trust versus greed.
