Good evening, maam! said the cheery young man when I answered the phone. Im calling from the Donald Trump campaign, he continued, and may I ask who you are planning to vote for? Without hesitation I answered, Hillary Clinton, of course.
Um, what? he responded, clearly unprepared for my selection. Really? I mean, um, can you tell me why you arent voting for Donald Trump?
Sure, I said. I prefer a President who has some knowledge of history, a basic understanding of foreign policy and the mechanics of international relations, and most of all, familiarity with our guiding principles as set forth in the Constitution. Other than that, I dont want a President who abuses women, mocks the disabled, shames immigrants, disses veterans, fails to pay his debts, and sleazes his way out of paying taxes.
Oh, he muttered, not quite as cheery as he had begun. Well, uh, thanks for taking the time
One more thing, I said. You might want to suggest to Mr. Putin that he be more careful in providing the data base from which you make your calling lists.
Um
Dos vedanya, I said. Click.

(12 posts)I really think all stories like this are greatly exaggerated. I used to be on tumblr and there's a lot of them.
I could see something of this format working as a campaign ad though.

(15,811 posts)But I cleaned it up a bit, seeing as how he woke me from a much-needed nap. Woke me up, mentioned Trump, that's a combo guaranteed to make me a bit testy. Afterwards, it did occur that I should have suggested that he occupy his time with something more beneficent. Ah, well.

(411 posts)last night. Cheerful young man telling me how important it was to get out and vote for Trump. I wasn't as articulate as you but I did tell him I already voted for Hillary and would NEVER vote for Trump. He just said okay and hung up.
