General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWelcome back everyone -- I just wanted to say
a personal thank you to all the people who emailed a response to our homepage question during the seven days we were offline. I received -- no joke -- hundreds of responses and there was simply no way I could keep up, so I want to apologize if yours didn't make it onto the page.
I know the election result was not what we were all hoping for. But it's great to see you all again! Hopefully we'll be able to get the site open the site to everyone (non-Star Members) in a few days.
Onward!

(18,881 posts)I think a lot of us are going to need DU now more than ever. If I'm even semi-sane (and that's questionable), it's because of this place, especially during the Bush years, and I imagine even more so in the coming years.

1. I needed to see the response to this devastating loss.
2. We need this site and more like it more than ever for the fight ahead. We need to fight our asses off.

(513 posts)It's like the Internet was broken when DU was down. I use DU for finding the latest and it was sorely missed during the election. I felt lost and unable to find answers or analysis about what was going down. At least one good thing that came out of this, I donated to DU and will continue to!

Also, a thank you to all who spoke out, be they published or not! Just because EarlG couldn't get to you doesn't negate your part in our healing, and moving forward.

(1,541 posts)I am so indescribably glad that DU is back. This has been one of the bleakest weeks of my life, and not having DU to turn to has made it all the more difficult to take.
I found DU in 2002 and lurked for a long time before posting; I still don't post a great deal, as I am more interested in hearing what others have to say.
This place has brought me so much to think about, to learn about, to celebrate about. Now we will have to grieve together and then turn that into action.

(12,582 posts)I always rely on DU for the latest in news, like-minded people to commiserate with, or just someone who's up the same times I am to shoot the breeze.
So glad you were able to get things straightened out and back on line!
When we're up in full force again, I have some friends who would like to join. They were devastated over the results of the election and have said they want/need to become more involved in politics and find like-minded people. Many are in the same boat I am, with extended family members who supported Trump.
