a personal thank you to all the people who emailed a response to our homepage question during the seven days we were offline. I received -- no joke -- hundreds of responses and there was simply no way I could keep up, so I want to apologize if yours didn't make it onto the page.

I know the election result was not what we were all hoping for. But it's great to see you all again! Hopefully we'll be able to get the site open the site to everyone (non-Star Members) in a few days.

I am so indescribably glad that DU is back. This has been one of the bleakest weeks of my life, and not having DU to turn to has made it all the more difficult to take.
I found DU in 2002 and lurked for a long time before posting; I still don't post a great deal, as I am more interested in hearing what others have to say.
This place has brought me so much to think about, to learn about, to celebrate about. Now we will have to grieve together and then turn that into action.

When we're up in full force again, I have some friends who would like to join.
