DU supported my State Rep campaign in a fundamentalist, Repub county

I have trouble expressing my gratitude to DUer's because they supported my campaign in contributions and in 'cheerleader' support...especially pinboy3niner and OmahaSteve.

While I lost this race, I intend to run again. Not one Democrat has been elected in 22 years (or is it 24 now? I'm too tired to check!!) I am spearheading for other Dems to run...AND other DUers to run, please. Leave the electronics and RUN (if our nation still has elections in 2 years.) After the dust cleared, running was like a fountain of youth; I'm 65 right now. Join your local Democratic Party. Get your name on the ballot

DU's support was wildly inspiring and motivating. I love DU and missed you all so much.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you a million times.

2. No, thank you duhneece.

Although I couldn't afford to contribute, I was certainly cheering you on.
That's a tough district, rich and red, and this cycle was brutal for Democrats.
But in two years there will be a lot of backlash and I think you will have a
much better chance. All the best--an Arizona neighbor.

10. No worries about contributions...

Just knowing that I have friends 'out there' helps me more than you know.

3. You're Denise right?

Good for you if you are since I supported you when you asked for contributions.

Thanks for caring enough to run and you're exactly right - we need to take back the country starting on the local level. Even county commissioners and school boards, etc. That's what the GrOPers did and it worked.

Let us know when you campaign starts up again!

11. Thank you for helping my campaign that way...

I WILL rise and run, unless my health absolutely prevents it. DU contributions allowed two more mailers and yard signs and letters with stamps and more.

4. Proud of you duhneece

I've been in local government as both a staffer and elected official for over 40 years...

Presently I am a County Board Supervisor with 9 years tenure (elected 4 times) and a City Alderman with 11 years tenure (elected 5 times) at the same time.

We've had two of the last three Mayoral elections where nobody opposed the Mayor.

Out of the 19 County Supervisor seats only ONE ran with opposition

Out of the 10 Alderman seats only ONE ran with opposition.

The fact that you put yourself out there to run even in a district that was heavily stacked against you is praiseworthy in all regards. Maybe you could set your sights on a lower level office and work your way up once you get a reputation and name recognition.

Whatever path you choose, I wish you the best.

12. I'm considering running for County Commissioner in 2 years

My problem is that my district's county commissioner is the only Repub with any integrity at all and if she runs, I'm just not sure. Our county commissioners serve a 4 year term whereas our State Reps are elected every 2 years.
Time will tell, but I'll be staying busy in the meantime.
What I don't want is to have no Dems running for anything so I'm 'planting seeds' to folks I know could serve well.

14. I was definitly 'jones-ing' for DU

But I also 'basked' in my knowing that DU was there to help me over months and months. I know it was hard for thousands of us DUers, the ones who post and the ones who come here for sanity.

8. Glad you're running again!

Will research a bit to find out who you are and will put a note to myself to contribute closer to the next election.

Actually... maybe I did contribute....
Rice pudding brain. Will research.

I, too, am already thinking of how I can do better. This is like a marathon and I'm in training!

17. Your 34.2% is a GREAT showing for an unknown first-timer

Especially against an established GOP incumbent with a decided funding advantage. I know that you did not expect to win this time around--but the inroads you've made in your district are impressive.

That's a testament to all of your hard work, including all of the miles of door-knocking you did to meet the voters. I'm very proud of you, Denise, for all you've done!

20. We'll see...and one way or another

I'll be trying to be a voice for public lands, women's reproductive justice, for those who have no voice, legalization (and regulation & taxation) of cannabis and so much that we at DU find to be OUR values.

19. You gave me so much

We raised issues, we gave Dems an option, we (I mean my Campaign Manager and all the help I got) provided an example of what progressive, determined Democrats can do, we are growing our party through all of that...and I couldn't have done much of that without the help I got from DU...I want to live up to your support, now & always.
