they need 60 votes to close off debate.

At most, they have 52 seats in the Senate(it could go down to 51 if we take the Louisiana seat in the runoff, which is possible).

Unless they abolish the filibuster(which they are probably scared to do, since it means a future Dem president could actually get most of her program through the Senate), we could block ALL of Trump's appointments...or at least get significant concessions out of the R's in exchange for letting their appointees be confirmed.

We could barter approval of his Cabinet for Merritt Garland being confirmed to the SC, for example.
