(42,649 posts)Consider:
Leslie Moonves can appreciate a Donald Trump candidacy.
Not that the CBS executive chairman and CEO might vote for the Republican presidential frontrunner, but he likes the ad money Trump and his competitors are bringing to the network.
"It may not be good for America, but it's damn good for CBS," he said of the presidential race.
Moonves called the campaign for president a "circus" full of "bomb throwing," and he hopes it continues.
"Most of the ads are not about issues. They're sort of like the debates," he said.
"Man, who would have expected the ride we're all having right now? ... The money's rolling in and this is fun," he said.

So as long as the money is rolling in this is fun? Well yes, because it is good for CBS and its millionaire CEO.

(42,649 posts)The rich prosper no matter who is in charge because they own the people who make the rules.
If Trump decides that the media enjoys too much protection, especially in the matter of libel law, perhaps the corporate media will decide to actually report the news instead of focusing on the sensational.

(42,649 posts)There is no television news, it is entertainment meant to divert. Climate change was not even a topic during the Presidential "debates", except when Hillary Clinton mentioned it.
MSNBC is better than the rest, but even the better is not really that good. And the corporate press is no better than the broadcast media when it comes to discussion of actual issues.
