Why aren't Democrats fighting in the lame duck?

I think Democrats should attempt to put forward a bill that would require anyone seeking to be President of the United States to release their tax returns to the public, including all business ties both foreign and domestic. The bill should also require anyone who seeks to become President to liquidate all assets that could pose a conflict of interest, and place all personal wealth in a blind trust.

Will Republicans vote for it? Doubtful. It might pass the Senate, since the majority there is so small, and there are some Republican Senators there who'd like to send Donald Trump a giant fuck you. It is unlikely to pass the House. However, what it does end up doing is trying to force the Republicans on record. It is very clear that a Trump Presidency is going to be one of the most scandal-ridden and corrupt Presidencies in American History. Democrats coming out early to try and pass this law will allow them to show that they have clean hands, and any Republican who refuses to back it can be held accountable later and potentially tied to all of Trumps corruption and scandal.

The point is to create a contrast between Democrats and Republicans. The point is to demand that Republicans put it on the agenda, and if they don't--fight to tie them to all the corruption and scandals that will inevitably flow out of a Trump Administration.

but he's busy on a book tour. Otherwise, I'm sure that he'd agree that voters have a right to see a candidate's tax returns.

I think we need new leaders in Washington D.C. Democrats need some fresh blood from the hard left BADLY.

It seems like most of them are retreating back to the pre-Obama days. There are no fiery leftists on the Hill to really fight for us, and those that might fight are too few in number.

There will be a republican uproar and lawsuits which will have to go to the court that now has Garland sitting on it.

I don't think its settled law that the Pres can't go around the Senate if they pass on their duty.
