Pictured below: The members of Trump's "Blind Trust," which will allow him to "leave his great business in total.I will be holding a major news conference in New York City with my children on December 15 to discuss the fact that I will be leaving my great business in total in order to fully focus on running the country in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! Trump posted in a series of tweets. While I am not mandated to do this under the law, I feel it is visually important, as President, to in no way have a conflict of interest with my various businesses.
He added that "legal documents are being crafted which take me completely out of business operations. The Presidency is a far more important task!"
Trump will be inaugurated Friday, Jan 20.

(12,620 posts)since he'd have to pay huuuuuge gift taxes if he gave his children his businesses.
It's therefore going to be something less than giving away, which seems to imply that he'll remain the owner.
If he remains the owner, he's going to run afoul of the "emoluments" clause of the Constitution.
Let's see what his legions of high-priced lawyers can come up with to avoid both the gift tax and the emoluments clause. It should be interesting, and be tied up in litigation until after his term ends, at which time both Publicans and Dems will say "let's forget about it".
