Tulsi Gabbard Will Deploy With Fellow Vets to Stand With Standing Rock

Tulsi Gabbard Will Deploy With Fellow Vets to Stand With Standing Rock

The congresswoman and several thousand veterans are expected to travel to North Dakota in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

By John NicholsTwitter - TODAY 6:00 AM

Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, the Hawaii Democrat who served two tours of duty in the Middle East, and who continues to serve as a Major in the Army National Guard, will join thousands of veterans next week as they arrive to support Native Americans who are seeking to block construction of an oil pipeline near North Dakota’s Standing Rock Sioux Reservation.

“If my participation in this protest helps send one message, it is this: We must protect our fragile water resources for current and future generations,” says Gabbard, who since her youth has been an environmental activist.

The congresswoman will be part of a December 4-7 “Veterans Stand With Standing Rock” mobilization that proposes to bring military veterans from across the country to western North Dakota at the same time that state officials are stepping up efforts to remove pipeline foes from the camp they have organized as part of their Water Protectors movement.

The objections raised by the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and its allies to the Dakota Access Pipeline have captured the attention of indigenous activists and climate change campaigners from across the country and around the world; and the corporate interests that are seeking to complete the pipeline have made little secret of frustration with the protests. Now, state officials are telling members of the tribe that they must leave. North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple has issued an evacuation order for the sprawling campsite where Native Americans from many tribes have gathered to protect sacred lands and the region’s water supply. The Army Corps of Engineers has announced plans to take steps on December 5 to close off access to the camp. But tribal leaders say they intend to remain in place at what has been described as “the largest gathering of Indian people in North America in the past century.”...

If Comrade Casino (R) puts our American veterans down again, he and his fellow Republican chickenhawks will be shamed.

Don't count on it. Fuckump was NOT shamed by his supporters when he stole money from vet charities, he was not shamed when he mocked the disabled, he was not shamed when he lied to ALL voters, he was not shamed for his disgusting treatment of women. He was not shamed when he violated the freedom and constitutional rights for individuals to protest, by having these individuals leave rallies, by force. and the biggest shame of all.... HE WAS NOT SHAMED, BUT WAS ELECTED.

I have completely cut off anyone in my life who voted for Fuckump. If anyone in my family, friends, etc voted for him after the video of him mocking the disabled reporter....well fuck them, I have nothing to do with them...

but you do have a point.

Perhaps I should say that the Republican chickenhawks like Trump who put down our troops and our veterans are "shamed in the eyes of every person of integrity."
