There is a Serious Problem in the country with simple intellectual honesty

You have heard for well over a year now about how awful Hillary was for the email server at home putting classified documents at risk. You heard she was a traitor. You heard she isn't fit to lead. You heard she was reckless. You heard we should "lock her up"

I've been hearing this on TV, radio, the internet, social media, etc. I have Facebook friends who were shooting to the hilltops about how she is awful for what she did. So this morning I posted a direct comment and article to my right wing and Republican friends the story about Gen Petraeus becoming Sec of State. I reminded them, with the attached article, that Gen Patraeus had actually been CONVICTED of divulging classified information. GUILTY!

As of 6 hours later...just now...not one comment. NOT ONE! NONE! These people don't give a fuck about this. They just so badly wanted their person to win and Hillary to lose that they basically made up fake poutrage about emails, Ben-Gazzzzi, etc. They couldn't care less. They don't care of Russia hacked our elections. They simply don't care. And when confronted with something like a Patraeus appointment...nothing. No vitriol, no outrage. Nothing.

We are doomed by idiots in this country.

It actually goes beyond the point of your OP. I thought you were going to talk about people not caring about the truth anymore. In my opinion, the most frightening phenomenon is the loss of truth. I wish someone would expand on this loss.

i'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact (only recently becoming as clear as an epiphany to me) that for many americans,
being a republican is absolutely the top of the list when it comes to how they see themselves. they're republicans, then men or women. they're republicans, then jews or catholics. they're republicans, then human beings.

and i mean they vote that way, even for a TRUMP. aaargh

i don't think i'll ever get it, but i have been too exposed recently to people for whom this appears to be true to dismiss it.

Lost robotic souls or something. As I said in late breaking news-do they really love their children more than their fantasy identity? The reality of this man talking with volatile heads of state over nuclear weapons-do they not recognize simple idiots are the ones that can kill their children?-this man they voted for lacks the intelligence to keep their children alive. I do not get that. It's obvious. Even if you took all his racism and sexism away-it't not hyperbole- I WOULD NOT let my child be babysit by this man.

5. I'm not sure what to make of it sometimes.

I sometimes think it's mostly the fault of conservative propagandists and their brainwashing techniques.

Other times I think that conservative voters are inherently hypocrites/liars, and nobody is really brainwashing them down that path. They choose to believe what they WANT to believe.

It must be great that the reality to a lot of these people is whatever they want to make up and not what really is. I guess it makes it more simple for them. But absolutely they will never care and continue with the destruction of us all.
