I did the same for Bush myself.
Actually I'm thinking I would almost rather hear Bush speak at this point. I certainly never thought there would come a day when I could loathe someone more than I loathed him.

(34,661 posts)Slapped Hillary right in the face with his comments about a fire wall. Listened to a interview this AM with Slim the Richest dufus in the world, his comment was,the worlds institutions will be able to survive Trump, but it will be the average American who will suffer. That is one profound statement my friends.

There are a good number of us, and we're undermining a rotted tree anyway, so it will happen, but not enough to make it happen as quickly as we'd like. If only. It'd be so nice to serve them up their own day-after crash.

(34,661 posts)the hand writing and are in denial. Just watched CBS/Viacom trying to save their collective butts this week. They have a News Department that is losing market share as well as dollars, and Corporate owned Stations that no one wants to own. Comcast wants Time-Warner and that might be the major reason they are all in with Trump. They are counting on the FTC to let them complete their merger after Obama put the stop to it.

The owners throwing in with Trump to salvage the merger seems to make perfect business sense. There isn't really much more fat to shave, though, and I've been hoping the election would accelerate the demise of this corrupt and corrupting business model. I.e., if the real disgust and disillusionment among their viewership were only combined with a little more principle and resolution.

(58,785 posts)field believing they would always be part of something vital and important. Oh, well. I'm sure not mourning passage of an era where TV "news" was degraded to a few carefully inoffensive sentences between large blocks of commercials--fed to a traditionally captive audience.
I do worry a lot about what comes next. How does journalism fulfill its role in democracies as people move on to picking and choosing their favorite flavors among an incredible selection of video feeds? Will representative government turn out to be an effectively unworkable model in the Information Age?
Even supposedly respectable information sources are potentially very destructive. How about the willingness and ability of a wire service to instantly blanket the nation with a ridiculous but devastating lie about a presidential candidate? Or Comey-type strikes instantaneously delivered to many millions of personal devices?

Have to get this off my chest. What we have witnessed is the same tactics used against ACORN. And we now see the after affects in our major cities. Will Aides and HIV spread like wild fire around the Globe as funding from the Clinton Foundation goes away,we all know the real answer.
What we now see is Karl Rove and Lee Attwater's so called Permanent Republican Majority. Again, people were not paying attention.

(98 posts)I don't like it either but I refuse to worry about things I can't control and won't go squirrelly on wild conspiracy stuff like Trump being the anti-christ. (98 posts)That's what I'm doing. I've turned off the TV as all it does is bring me down. I'm going to move forward and do my best to act like none of this has happened. Won't do me any good to dwell on it. These things run in cycles and our time will come again. I'm not going to let Trump ruin my life. The world will still be here tomorrow.

(10,252 posts)Get a grip and calm down. As despicable, vulgar, and depraved as Trump is -- don't hate him. Don't harbor hatred towards anyone. Hatred makes people stupid. Think, say, and do stupid stuff. Hatred keeps you trapped in deep deep unhappiness. When you hate, you join their team - the haters' team. You're a much better person than that. Find a way to channel the energy and fire of that anger and hated into something positive and beneficial to others. You'll feel much better.
Whatever the causes and conditions that have brought Trump to the presidency, we just have to deal with it now. Life doesn't care whether we like it or not. Life is difficult. The Buddhist perspective is that all of us live here in Samsara, the realm of suffering. So sorry to bring you the news about suffering, but we're just damned stuck with it. Nobody likes it. Trump won't be around forever. Out of all the stupid chaos and havoc that he will wreck, something else will emerge. Let's work together to make sure that something else will be whole hell of a lot better.
