Question, Would the media be reacting any different if the situations were reversed?..Trump-Hillary?

If...by some chance, Hillary had a minority of the total votes, and won the electoral college, would the media be reacting any differently as far as all things are concerned?...recount? legitimacy? over all view of the event? My sense is that the media would be reporting a lot stronger for the unfairness of the event. Somehow I feel we would be getting a different picture and view of the struggle to back Trump who would be winner of the total vote cast....

I doubt I can trust the Main Stream Media...but I might add, it is awful now, it was before the election, and it was awful in the run up to Trumps nomination..

Republicans would be burning down our streets if Trump had gotten 2 million more votes and Hillary would have the required number for the EC, there would not be a Congress which could work with Hillary, yes lots of different results.

4. I think that would have been a less surprising result

We knew Trump had groupthink scattered throughout the US, and that there could be enough voters dispersed throughout to give him the popular vote. It was the unexpected concentration in historically blue states that was a surprising revelation.
So, just based on that, the media coverage would have been different. Democratic pundits would be defending the electoral college and minimizing the popular vote, and republicans would be calling for it to be abolished.

let's suppose Hillary won pop. vote AND EC vote by substantial margins
the media would once again parade Doris Kerns-Goodwin before prime time audiences to talk about Lincoln's "team of rivals" and how she needs to include Republicans in her cabinet picks for some reason
i don't recall seeing or hearing the words "team of rivals" in the media since Nov. 8, go figure

10. Republican congress critters would chorus about the lack of a mandate

And they would refuse to do anything because the new president wasn't backed by the popular vote, so the will of the people (a very slippery concept in Republican hands) would be that the new president had no mandate to govern. No appointments would be considered, let alone confirmed, and Republicans would piously claim the founding dudes' blessing for refusing to govern for another four years.

But since it was their guy who fluked through, we won't be hearing any of that "will of the people" nonsense, except as it is expressed by the voters of the electoral college.
