The Rape Scene in Last Tango in Paris Was Not Consensual

http://jezebel.com/the-rape-scene-in-last-tango-in-paris-was-not-consensua-1789663754

The rape scene in Last Tango in Paris is one of cinema’s most infamous, featuring a then 19-year-old Maria Schneider pinned down by 48-year-old Marlon Brando on a living room floor. The shot is spare, uncompromising and enormously disturbing—and, it turns out, planned without Schneider’s knowledge or consent.

No-one believed Maria Schneider for years when she told this story how she was raped on the set. Just disgusting.

Those were QT's hands around Briget's neck in the movie. She agreed to it, but it has always bothered me. QT did it himself to give the movie realism and so he wouldn't have to do a lot of retakes. As much as I loved the movie and QT, wish I had never learned the truth. When filming with animals there are always representatives from the ASPCA on set to make sure no animals were harmed during movie-making. Guess it's fine to choke an actress, though. It's only a woman, after all.

And the fact that he felt he couldn't go to her and work with her, as a director, to get the reaction he wanted is horrifying.
