Thanks, Obama!” is a sarcastic expression used by critics of President Barack Obama to blame personal troubles and inconveniences on public policies supported or enacted by the administration. The phrase is often used to caption animated GIFs in which the subject appears to be struggling with a rather simple task, satirizing those who scapegoat Obama as the cause of problems for which he has little or no influence.

A couple examples.

Perhaps you read "context" and thought "content".

The post is still content and context free.

When multiple posters have the same reaction and it takes other posters to provide the context, then the OP fails. This thread's OP fails.

It's not hard to provide content and context if an original poster considers for a moment the people who will read it. A moments reflection will provide the insight that the readers are mere mortals and not as omniscient and connected. Then the poster would have pity for them while composing an original post and would thoughtfully provide context as a kindness.

and his administration. I pray the pipeline rerouting will be permanent so that our next president can't "make America great again" by screwing the first Americans again.

Trump and his people will be a grim nightmare in comparison.

...is NOT a done deal. It's a temporary stay pending an accelerated EIR. Maybe 3-4 months breathing space, and they can still decide to go ahead with it.

I, and many of our people feel that this is likely to be window dressing by Obama....it gives him a better optic on the issue as he leaves office, yet there is a shit ton more he could have and should have done a long time ago. So, I'm not ready ready to thank him for a goddamn thing yet.

Puha Ekapi_2 -- since when does President Obama do "window dressing" for the "optics" of anything? Unlike Trump, Obama does not waste his time beating his chest and boasting about his accomplishments. He just quietly gets shit done, and when there is something to announce, he announces it.

People at this site were very vocal about how he supposedly threw gays under the bus because he didn't make some big pronouncement his first day in office. Had he done so, nothing would have changed in the Law, where it matters. Instead he worked methodically, step by step, lined up all the legal pieces, and then one fine day we saw that same sex marriage was the law of the land in the military and in all 50 states.

If you want a president who struts his stuff and bellows about what he's going to do, just wait a few weeks, because that one is coming.

Of course Trump can undo any executive order Obama signs. That is the problem with having a GOP congress. Obama can only work through executive power, which makes anything he does temporary if Trump wishes to overturn it. Elections have consequences.

...is why he acted at this late hour, and not months ago. He could have used the same authority then as he did now. Why has he not involved the DoJ in investigating the militarized police actions against lawfully demonstrating people?

This isn't his first action on the issue.

I don't know about the DOJ, but the fact is they won't initiate new investigations in the post-election period because the GOP is about to take over. That will soon fall to the Trump administration.
