(2,897 posts)Modi? How? I'm calling shenanigins on this one. It just doesn't seem like he made a big enough splash to be the person of the year. I watch the news religiously and if I had to count the amount of times Modi appeared or was mentioned, I would struggle to find one.

(2,897 posts)still Modi winning the poll is odd to me. It's a bit of an obscure win for someone who hasn't been in the U.S. news all year. The Ferguson protestors came in second at 8.8% to Modi's 11%.

(50,994 posts)International events often get less news coverage in domestic media for obvious reasons
and there are many significant newsworthy events that don't make the headlines for various reasons. News appearances is not the main measure of influence in this world.
Our president-elect gets plenty of news coverage for nonsense whilst constantly attacking the media for bias.

Actually, bin laden should have been chosen, because he changed the world as we know it.
Someone suggested Comey for this year, and I think that would have been a perfect choice

(9,438 posts)Time magazine will most likely name Donald Trump the person of the year. I do not think he deserves to be person of the year, but I think he will get it. I think they have to name him because if they do not they will get a large amount of criticism from Republicans. I think the American people, the Rust Belt people, or Kellyanne Conway should be named person of the year. It was the

Maybe Trump will get it next year when he builds the wall
