Been a few stories by "people close to Trump" who have said his has a short attention span and a deep need for attention.

Problem is, sometimes people who need that much attention acti out in weird ways to get it.

I would think that if he wanted the press to report accurately, he would hold a press conference to clear up anything he felt was misunderstood or was being misreported. How many months has it been since he fielded questions at a presser?
