I am a liberal. Possibly ultra liberal. I do live in a very red state and a very red house district. I am always on the left of every issue.
However, here on DU I at times feel moderate or even conservative.
I am just wondering who we are on DU.
How do you see yourself?

(92 posts)because of the gun issue. I'm ambivalent to guns but don't believe in strict control.
With the exception of that issue, I'd have to vote "Ultra".

(3,539 posts)Of late their is no center.
The right wing has become capable only of providing bullshit, radical, country damaging positions with a goodly amount of beating the war drums thrown in for good measure.
At times I find myself taking a liberal position I may not be fully comfortable with. But I'll take that ground as the right wing alternative bears no resemblance to reality and is frequently totally repulsive.

(22,308 posts)There are a couple issues that I am not far left on but you will never get rich making $10,000.00 bets on me not being liberal on any given issue.

(27,630 posts)You see, I currently live in Sweden and I am suddenly a moderate, a centrist. I'm not a liberal here.

(3,186 posts)But that would apply really only in the context of DU. Especially since I tend to lean more toward a pragmatic approach. For example, I will often fore-go voting for a candidate I would prefer, for a D that has the best chance of winning, even if I may not agree with him/her 100% of the time.
Outside of DU however, people in my red area would consider me to be an 'ultra radical liberal'.
