I doubt he is doing this for reasons of economy as he claims.

Probably so he can use his own jet and bill the Govt.

Even if there weren't a new plane, Trump would still say that to 'save money' he should use his own plane -- all the while he will bill the government for its cost. And, his devotees will claim he is a genius while he is ripping them off.
