Is YouTube going down the tubes?

For more than 3 years I liked to follow a person on YouTube who frequently posted great cooking and baking tips, but around a couple of months ago she posted a rather cryptic video saying she couldn’t continue posting videos and something about the viewership and pay wasn’t what it used to be. After that, she simply took her channel down.

I didn’t think anything further about it until I came across this discussion, which mentioned the video, below. Is YouTube about to go belly-up?

to help smaller creators. It didn't really identify any problem with Youtube or financial issue.
