Ivanka Trump only serves to put a literal pretty face on the Trump name. Nothing more.

I know the argument is thrown out and about that she's somehow the softer, more gentler Trump and she's reasonable and rational in ways her father isn't and would serve as an ambassador across the political spectrum, but I don't buy it for a second.

She only cares about preserving the family name as long as it still could be milked for money. Once the old man croaks, she, Uday and Qusay will need something to keep paying the bills.

I don't think she really cares all that much about climate change or child care or whatever we're told she cares about, but she'll want you to think that she cares so to put us at ease that the Trump name isn't so bad after all.

It's a schtick and deep down she's no better than her father.

What is creepy though is that I remember back in the early to mid 90s I remember reading my grandparents' stash of National Enquirers when we'd visit. This was back when she was barely even a teenager, and all the writers were obsessing that she was going to be a huge beauty when she grew up. It was icky and exploitive to me even back then.

I have to wonder how much of that was fueled by Donald himself, who appears to have a very cozy relationship with the National Enquirer.
