First lady Michelle Obama reportedly left White House staffers in tears after she took them out for her farewell final holiday pizza party this week.
Obama, who is set to leave the White House ahead of Donald Trump's inauguration on 20 January, threw a final Christmas party at We The Pizza restaurant in DC, later moving on to Bernaise, at an event that became emotional after she delivered a thank you speech to staff.
A source told The Hill how her words "left everybody in tears" as they celebrated the final holiday party and the past eight years in the White House at the restaurant, which is supposedly a favourite of the first lady's.
Chef Spike Mendelsohn, who owns the restaurant, shared a snap on Instagram of some of the goodies he cooked up for the team, including biscuits featuring campaigns Obama has spearheaded over the past two terms her husband has been in office, such as education for girls.
He wrote: "Yes we can and yes we did!!! Honoured to host @michelleobama last holiday party. What an honour to have worked with her team over the last 8 years on very important initiatives that have shaped our country for many decades to come. Thank you."
Obama has enjoyed positive approval ratings throughout her husband's presidency, impressing with her campaigns, speeches and warm demeanour on shows such as Ellen and James Cordon's Drive by Karaoke.
The first lady is so well liked, there have been suggestions she should run for president in future, although she has made no comment on these suggestions.

(53,194 posts)Can we POSSIBLY stop worrying about what Alex Jones thinks of us? That worthless fuck would hate us no matter what we did. Even if we all joined the GOP, embraced Alt-Rightism, and got Trump tattoos, he would hate us and want us dead.

(4,341 posts)to take pictures right before they leave to make sure the republicans don't do to them what they tried to do to the Clinton of accusing them of taking stuff that did not belong to them. With pictures they can prove everything was where it is supposed to be.

(34,582 posts)All the credit goes to my wife, though. She didn't get past 5th grade because her mother pulled her out of school to take care of her mother, but I swear she should be an interior decorator, especially for the holidays. She has good sense, and we have 3 Christmas trees (my wife's favorite holiday).

(2,037 posts)My best friend, who passed away in July at 73, was the same. He had to drop out after the 5th grade to help with his family's horse ranch in New Hampshire - but he was a gentleman and a scholar, with great taste in food, clothes, and decor.
And he was very much a Robert Kennedy liberal; he lived in Manhattan for many years, and one of the last things he told me was that New Yorkers often referred to our President-elect as 'Trump the Chump' on account of how easy it was for banksters to lure him into hopeless boondoggles (God help us all).
I miss my old friend; but that's life.

(34,195 posts)Imagine the White House staff who have served the Obamas for eight years
now having to serve the Trumps.
(Meaning the staff who run the White House kitchen, housekeeping, etc)
I suspect they'll be treated differently.
