Michael Moore begs Trump: Attend security briefings or the next terror attack is all your fault

“You have to pay attention, you have to attend these briefings,” Moore said. “This is our country, this is our security, this is our safety. You’re horsing around with all this nonsense, and you’re not doing your No. 1 job. And the No. 1 job of the president is to make sure the country is safe.”

Moore recounted how former President George W. Bush was repeatedly warned about the dangers that Osama bin Laden an al-Qaeda posed to American security, and yet was unable to stop them from launching the deadliest terrorist attack ever on American soil.

Moore said that we simply cannot afford to have another president who is “unengaged” and is “not reading his briefs” about terror threats.

“I’m asking you to do your job,” Moore said. “For the sake of the people who may end up dead.”

Trump will spend most of his time in New York, and, except for some photo ops like Carrier, will delegate everything to those remaining in the White House. He thinks Pence will do this, but Pence is not in any authorized reporting structure. The Department Secretaries and Trump's staff (including Chief of Staff and NSA) do not take orders from Pence. The Department Secretaries do not take orders from the Chief of Staff or NSA.

Actually I guess it won't be a lot different than George W. Bush except Bush actually had some understanding of how government functions.

Exactly how it will all shake out will depend on the new team.

Probably the remit of the National Security Council should be enlarged to include the intelligence and operational capabilities of DHS, Justice, and Treasury as well as Defense and State.

that you shouldn't have budget control decoupled from personnel control. I have not studied the DNI much (actually my knowledge of the intelligent portion of the government kind of predates 9/11 when I actually studied it for school).

I need to read some books. I am starting with Flynn's Field of Fight. I did read a good discussion of the NSA put together in honor of Brent Scowcroft.

The current intelligence setup seems pretty unwieldy, with the DNI fusing intel from 16 agencies in 6 departments and the CIA.

Totally agree unfortunately.

The so-called, Liberal Media which doesn't exist will parrot all of what tRump says, and he's BEEN blaming Pres. Obama for ISIS, blames Hillary too. Yet, he was FOR the Iraq war, and the so-called, Liberal media which doesn't exist has not really held him accountable for what he said on tape during that Stern Interview. All that lying sac says is that people are lying on him and that he wasn't for the Iraq war

I know there WILL be a war under tRump--he and his buddies have to replenish their coffers. Been a long while since the last war. They're thirsty for that war money.

They were waiting for it to empower the Security State so they could bypass the Constitution, and enable the invasion of Iraq.

The new kids on the block want to invade or at least attack Iran and will do ANYTHING to make that a reality. Pence has been to all the meetings and seems to be taking a very serious interest, rather like his idol Cheney. Bibi and the Saudis have plans for disabling Iran and they'll have little trouble persuading Dumbass the Don it's the next big holy war for 'Murican Honor.

He'll just call Putin and do whatever that dictator suggests, since they are totally birds of a feather. He doesn't give a shit about this country, or about us. It's all about him and his ego and his ability to siphon money out of anything. Other than that, he has exactly zero interest.

The president's number 1 job is to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. George W. Bush kept parroting that line about pertectin' the Murrikan people, but that doesn't make it true. Sadly, Barack Obama slipped up from time to time as well. It was in the name of national security that most of the transgressions against the Constitution happened: Indefinite detention, torture, indiscriminate bombing of civilian targets, all to the country's shame.

Without the Constitution, there is no United States of America.

It's not safety of America, it's defending the Constitution- it's right there in the oath of office. The focus on safety over civil liberties is how we got in the mess we're in with the surveillance state, militarized police, etc.
