The war between Donald Trump and the nations labor unions is on.
Labor leaders, who spent almost $100 million campaigning against Trump, said after the election theyd give him a chance to deliver on his pro-worker agenda. But the cease-fire eroded in the last two days.
First, Trump blasted an Indiana union boss personally on Twitter, prompting a blistering response from labor leaders. Then he announced his choice for secretary of the Department of Labor is fast-food executive Andrew Puzder, a union critic whos even floated the idea of automating his restaurants to avoid worker costs.
Its part of a larger agenda, and you can see it playing out in terms of his picks, which is to destroy the labor movement, said RoseAnn DeMoro, executive director of National Nurses United. They want to do away with democracy. Thats the problem. Labor is a check on the balance of power with corporations and they want labor out of the way.

(69,116 posts)during the next four years? The tear it down, and we win mantra seems pretty heartless and self-defeating to me...tear it down, and you lose the courts for a generation...such enthusiasm for whom, Bernie? And how is he going to fix the courts assuming he gets elected which I doubt? Some things can't be fixed by anyone at this point. This election was a disaster for all progressives. There will be no quick fix.

(5,395 posts)The American people had a chance to defeat this clown, but simply put, they (we) didn't.
Now there results are upon us, there is no stopping it now. The GOP will push those hard line positions on us so fast we won't be able to keep up. You'll hear the Dems in congress put up a big fuss, but without the votes, they are powerless to stop it. Count on the GOP to shove their most radical and controversial agendas early on, where they know the public will be up in arms, but, as always, the next election is a full two years away, and most voters will have forgotten all about it by then.
And, as always, so many so called Democrats won't even vote in the mid terms anyways, thereby letting the GOP get anything they want.
