wasn't it Bush administration officials that misled about Iraq WMD ?

Trump is trying to claim it was intelligence. But there was no intelligence that there was a threat.

It was Cheney and others who misled to make people think something that is not true. 9/11 itself already had people scared and they easily believed the lies.

And add in the failure of the media to do it's job.

If we just went by facts from intelligence there was no reason to start a war .

He spent a lot of time debunking the WMD claim. He is now in prison for pedophilia.

5. Oh, yeah - Heritage. I'd allowed them to slip from my memory. They used to infuriate me frequently.

Haven't heard much from them publicly, lately, but who knows what mischief they've been reaping behind the scenes.

so I don't think the story that there were none will sell very well. We should instead stress the story that they were exaggerated instead.

Who was head of the CIA. So they'll just say it was the CIA/"intelligence community" even though it was Bush/Cheney and political appointees (Tenet was appointed by Bill Clinton). Reporters can't get into the intelligence community to uncover the truth about what the real intelligence people knew.

The CIA famously asked former Ambassador Joe Wilson to go to Niger to check out reports of yellow cake uranium, etc. Wilson came back and wrote an op-ed in the NY Times excoriating the Bush administration for twisting information to back up the WMD fiction. Cheney and others in the Bush Administration retaliated against Wilson and the CIA by outing Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, as CIA covert operative, destroying her 20 year career with the agency, sabotaging her important work in nuclear nonproliferation, and jeopardizing the lives and safety of her contacts in sensitive regions of the world.
Maybe Trump had the CIA confused with his own John "Wrong on WMDs" Bolton.
