Is there a middle ground on Russia?

I have no illusions about Russia. They have a fundamentally different culture and outlook on the world, they always have, and they always will. I have no doubt that Russia messed with our election.

At the same time, I also know that the military-industrial complex and its lackeys like John McCain and Lindsey Graham have a vested interest in eternal Cold War.

Is it wrong that part of me wants to see if we can't try to find some middle ground with Russia? They have a few thousand nukes pointed at us- the consequences of really bad relations with Russia can be worse than with any other nation on earth.

Is it wrong to at least try for a certain level of co-existence with Russia?

is something that transcends a lot of other issues. I wish we could find some way to get that off the list of things to worry about.

we have no choice but having a certain level of co-existence with them. Pearl Harbor happened because we were strangling the Japanese with an embargo. We (with the help of OPEC) have been keeping oil prices unnaturally low, in an attempt to cripple the Russian economy. We had to know there would be blowback. It sucks and I am not condoning it, but something was going to happen eventually.

but a country like Russia isn't going to lay down and take it. They are like all the little countries we like to push around and bully.

and break up the media monopolies so our media are harder to control.

Don't expect conservatives to cooperate with either of these things.
