Just Wonderin

Well, GOP, you have your “win”, with a little help from your friends (aka the country’s enemies).

So I’m just wonderin’ what you’re going to be doing going forward.

We’ve already seen your plans for gutting and/or eliminating things like food stamps, Medicare, and Obamacare, and whittling social security payments down to the bone.

I’m just wonderin’ what you think will happen when elderly retirees don’t have enough money to eat, and are forced out of their homes because they can’t afford rent. There will also be the added problem that they can’t afford the meds they need to survive – but maybe you see that as “the solution”.

So when these people wind up living together in tents and cardboard boxes, will you just ignore all of the “Trumptowns” that pop up all over the country? Do you think the citizenry will ignore them? And what about those who die – and a lot of them will? Will you just walk around the corpses piled up on the street because there won’t be anyone who can afford to bury them? Just wonderin’.

When children go hungry because the family’s food stamps have been cut off, I’m just wonderin’ how you plan to deal with that. Even if their parents can scrape together enough money for them to see a doctor (because without Obamacare, they won’t be covered for a visit), a diagnosis of malnutrition, and its attendant medical complications, won’t matter if there’s no food available to cure what ails them. Just wondering how you plan to deal with that. Again, maybe that’s your solution to over-crowded schools and the hesitation to fund education. Dead kids don’t require textbooks, and they cease being a drain on society, right? Do you think the populace will find your solution acceptable? Just wonderin’.

What do you suppose will happen when the unemployment numbers go up again – and they will – when safety nets like food stamps are no longer available to the out-of-work? We’ve seen the pResident-elect’s attitude to “keeping jobs in the States” in action – being that he simply outsources US jobs to low-wage countries. Will you just tell the public that those skinny, malnourished people they see panhandling on street corners are those lazy moochers you’ve been complaining about for years? How do you think Americans will react to seeing their neighbours, their friends, their family members – or even themselves – left to fend for themselves? Just wonderin’.

Of course, some people will still have jobs, the ones that you and your boy can’t outsource – like flippin’ burgers and delivering pizzas. But, of course, the out-of-work can’t afford luxuries like fast-food fries, and people who are trying to support their elderly parents – because they can’t survive on their reduced SS checks – can’t throw money away on pizza. Besides, someone in the family may need expensive medical care, and with no medical insurance to cover that care, grandma’s life-saving surgery will have to take precedence over things like eating. How do you explain to those people that “America has been made great again”? Just wonderin’.

The rich will always be with us – and they will undoubtedly still be with us after your boy and his cadre of Cabinet clowns take office. But what will you do for money to fund the government – including your own congressional and senatorial salaries – when the middle-class, thanks to your policies, no longer exists? The wealthy are “too smart” to pay taxes, the wealthiest corporations – again thanks to your policies – don’t have to pay taxes, and the unemployed can’t pay taxes. So exactly where do you think the money is going to come from? Again, just wonderin’.

Let me try to frame this in a way simple enough for even simple-minded Republicans to understand.

Policies aimed at squeezing money out of the middle-class will fail the minute the middle-class have no more money to be squeezed out of. People who have no access to healthcare will sicken and die – and the dead don’t pay taxes. People whose jobs have been outsourced by the “King of All Outsourcers”, pResident Trump, will not be paying taxes on incomes they no longer have. People who lose their homes and their savings due to your policies will not be paying taxes on their cardboard dwellings in Trumptowns.

Eventually, the wealthy won’t fare any better. When the middle-class can no longer afford to buy big-screen TVs and the latest gizmo-gadget they’re told they can’t live without, the corporations that produce such products won’t make enough money to pay their stockholders a return on their investment. When the middle-class have to depend on welfare to stay afloat, the only source of money to fund welfare will be the wealthy – who will squeal like stuck pigs if you raise their taxes in order to keep those no-account moochers who are no longer buying big-screen TVs alive.

This isn’t Politics 101 – THIS is common sense. I know that a lot of Republicans are dumber-than-shit; that’s a given. But if you think the citizens won’t notice that things went downhill the minute you people took charge, think again.

People who lose their jobs under Trump won’t blame the black guy who brought jobs back while in office – they’ll blame YOU. People who lose the healthcare coverage they had while the black guy was President will blame you. People whose elderly parents were able to get by on Social Security checks that they now can’t survive on will blame you. People who relied on social safety nets like food stamps WILL notice that those safety nets have been eviscerated on your watch, and they will blame you.

Even the dumbest Republican voter will take note of how things were before your boy took office and how that compares to the aftermath. Even the dumbest of the dumb will recognize the difference between the consequences of your policies and those of the previous administration’s. Yes, you heard that right – even the dumbest of the dumb will eventually recognize the bleeding fuckin’ obvious.

So again, I’m just wonderin’. Wonderin’ how you're going to explain the deaths of thousands of Americans as being good for the country, how you’re going to explain Trumptowns populated by once hard-working people as acceptable, how you’re going to explain hungry children as being unworthy of consideration, how you’re going to pass off the death of the middle-class worker as “collateral damage” to a system that can’t survive without it.

Just wonderin’ is all.

It's as if Republicans want America to be Bedford Falls in the movie "It's A Wonderful Life" in the scene where George Bailey sees what the town would be like if he had never been born and the horrible Mr. Potter ran the place.

Republican voters never think through any policy a republican politician or pundit comes up with. If they gut SS, SNAP, Medicare and Medicaid the economy will tank almost overnight. All that money no longer going back into the economy will wreak havoc. Not to mention the fact that without that money going to thousands of businesses a lot of people will be laid off. Then you will see an increase in crime because Trump won't have an answer except to say something callous like everybody's lazy or some other worthless shit. People have to eat. There's no way around that fact. If a Trump presidency is allowed to proceed it's going to get very ugly very soon.
