Hey MSM! "NOT - ONE - 'EFFING' - SECOND

Not one “Effing” Second! That’s the amount of time I have spent watching MSNBC, CNN, ABC-CBS-NBC News, 60-Minutes, Meet the Press, Good Morning America, NPR, or any other “so-called” MSM New source since the night of the election. NOT – ONE – FUCKING – SECOND!!

It has taken a bit of will-power, because MSNBC was usually on in my house from waking at 6AM until I went to work at 7AM, and then was back on from 4PM to 8PM, when decent shows would come on. On my days off, MSNBC, or CNN were usually on in the background as I went about chores around the house or made lunch and dinner. But now…NOT ONE FUCKING SECOND!!

I think I fell into the trap like a lot of other Americans. Let’s watch the “news” channels cover Trump 24/7, because you never knew what kind of ignorant crap was going to come out of his orange-hued pie-hole. Besides, it wasn’t like the unqualified, bigoted, racist, sexist, black-hearted con man and Carnival Barker would win the Presidency of the greatest country on earth, but then a strange thing happened. Every racist, hate-filled, sexist piece of bullshit that came out of his mouth was suddenly treated as “normal”. Every attack on minorities, women, gays, fellow-Americans, etc., was treated like it was just the “normal fucking expression” of some mythical “white-working-class” demographic.

- Want to grab women by the pussy? Hell, that’s just like how “Cooter” over at the Sak-o-Suds talks.

- Call immigrants “rapist and murderers”? Hell, that’s just like how Ned the “One-Armed Bartender” over at the “Do-Drop-In” talks.

- Encourage a Communist Country to interfere in our election? Hell, Rush Limbaugh has been preaching for years that Democrats are more evil than Imperial Russia with a FUCKING FORMER KGB Agent at the helm.

Now, the rest of us…Those of us who are parents of an LGBT child, or have a child that’s devoted blood, sweat, tears and large sums of tuition to study science, have to deal with the fact that hatred of our children has been VALIDATED!

NOT – ONE – FUCKING – SECOND!!! Do you fucking hear me MSM???!!! I have NOT – ONE – FUCKING – SECOND for you.

I’ve lost friends and have shunned family members who supported this unqualified jackass. Do you really think it’s that hard to TURN YOU THE FUCK OFF???!!!

But I’m doing more than that.

I don’t have many resources, but I do have time and energy.

In the free time I’ve discovered since I turned off the MSM, I’ve written letters and made phone calls.

For example – In big “blue” cities that went 70-30 for Hillary, why are the most powerful radio stations in those cities spewing nothing but right-wing racism, bigotry and hatred 24/7?

- Why are University of Wisconsin Football and Basketball (or any division 1 University sporting event) broadcast on Clear Channel or Sinclair Communications radio stations that spend 95% of their time tearing down institutions of higher learning and pushing to defund critical research? I heard recently that University of Wisconsin fell out of the top 5 research universities. Why would the Badgers give broadcast rights to Wisconsin football to a station that runs 30 hours of Rush Limbaugh a week?

- The cities and counties that voted for Hillary Clinton account for 65-70% of the nation’s GDP. Why is there nothing but hate radio available on their most powerful and influential radio stations?

- Advertisers on NBC, CBS, ABC etc., - why are you supporting networks that ignore 65% of the Nation’s GDP?
The networks defense for their fellating of Trump seems to be because of ratings and profits. You know what else gets lots of ratings? Fucking Train Wrecks. The only difference here being, normally, networks don’t create the train wrecks they cover, but they sure as hell did here.

NOT – ONE – FUCKING – SECOND!!! I won’t waste ONE – FUCKING – SECOND on MSM news EVER again. I don’t give a flying fuck if they now start doing 24/7 hard-hitting investigations into Trumps finances or his Russian Coup. I don’t give a flying fuck if the Russians are attacking the beaches of Florida and MSNBC is the only source of news that I have…NOT – ONE – FUCKING – SECOND!!!!

I don’t give a flying fuck if they show nothing but Joy Reid and Rachel Maddow going forward. NOT – ONE – FUCKING – SECOND!!!!

The only time I would even consider tuning in is if every network CEO were going to do an exclusive 30 minute apology for the shit they’ve brought forth on this country, resign, give all their fucking wealth to the Food Bank, put on sackcloth and ashes and walked in front of a train.

Until that happens…NOT – ONE – FUCKING – SECOND!!!!

Please join me. You’ll feel a lot better and you’ll find that writing letters and calling advertisers is a noble thing to do.

And I'm a bonified insane political junkie who works from home and ALWAYS has CNN or MSNBC on in the background 24 hours a day. I haven't watched cable news or listened to any radio literally since 2am election night.

I thought it would be impossible, but it's actually been surprisingly easy. I think it's being like an addict who hit bottom, my body just knew there was no way I could physically handle it, especially the normalization of Trump that I knew was coming.

Now I only read a few things every day to keep informed. And while I'm obviously horrified about Trump and the possibilities, I find I am so much less angry now. Even my wife has noticed big time.

Lesson here is cable news is toxic, turn it off.

Then I might consider looking if you were committed to improving. A little hypocritical schmoozing of your viewship about journalistic standards means absolutely nothing.

For those who don't know, Zucker, President of CNN Universal, is a huge, long-time enabler of Trump. It was Zucker who presented a phony glossy, glamorized Trump character to idiot Americans in The Apprentice, then flooded CNN with live Candidate-Trump coverage for many months. Without his promotion of Trump from a ridiculous blowhard, it could not have happened.

About his role, Zucker "has no regrets."

Congrats. Zucker's pretty pleased with himself, though. Trump has been and is expected to continue to be very good for CNN profiteers.

Only with Trump could tell him, "You're FIRED!" But, of course, Trump was just an employee, Zucker the one personally raking in millions.

Speaking of CNN, I don't watch any more, but I did pause briefly in passing this morning. Three of the low-pay types they fill the day shows with were criticizing Trump for not making Rudy Giuliani Secretary of State. (!) They agreed that he was being unfair and disloyal after all G's demented ranting for him. (My words.) Boy, did they make it easy to keep moving.

Those kept me better informed than the "news" ever had. Two years later I got a dish and TCM and there was never a reason to tune in the lying bobbleheads.

I admit I tuned in to CNN briefly during the Japanese quake and tsunami, which they were airing live as it rolled across miles of Japanese farmland. Otherwise...nah.

I'll keep the WaPo subscription on my Kindle, check in with the BBC several times a day, listen to RFI when I'm listening to my favorite net radio and occasionally dip a toe into the offshore press. Broadcast "news?" No time for that corporate horse shit.

So glad to see that I am not alone. No MSNBC/CNN since 11/10. It has been harder to give up the local news, however, the second they start covering T, I switch the channel.

It's unrealistic, of course, but if everyone who voted for Hillary, refused to watch the "news" channels, they would suffer. That won't be the case though, and though I wish my viewership was missed, it won't be, since the Trainwreck that is the T presidency, will get people to watch these stations, to see what he'll do next.

Glad to know it's not just me who is sick of hearing the name Trump! I was a die-hard watcher of Rachel and Lawrence, but I quit after election night. I tried a couple of times but it's all Trump, Trump, Trump - even if it's bad it's still all about him. Good grief, the man isn't even president yet and it's Trump 24/7 on pretty much all the cable news channel.

I've even given up on CBS, ABC, & NBC. Even though they cover more things going on, they always invariably give DJT his five minutes.

Like another reader posted, when I do watch national or local news, as soon as they say his name, I mute the TV.

I've lost friends and acquaintances behind this guy because I could not and cannot wrap my head around the fact that someone I know well would actually cast a vote for a person who has absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

this though. It needs to stop pretending it is legitimate and point to the money. This is why being so cozy is a problem. We got the campaign donations but not the favorable coverage. We were propped up to fail. Its important that we keep slightly less than 50 percent of congress because then it looks like, if nothing else, at least we have two parties in constant battle for the direction of our country. "democracy feels great don't it!" And people will continue to ride that money to the top in the Democratic Party and think that it's the way of change and statesmanship, and actual legislative control will always be just out of our grasp...like a greyhound racing after a lure.

One gigantic WTF moment was the time before the election when MSNBC cut off a live speech by Bernie Sanders to go to a speech that orange boy was about to start. Then all that viewers could see was an empty podium for about half an hour.

Ever since, I have that people I trusted just lied to me for no good reason. I used to tune in every evening to watch Chris (Hayes, NOT Matthews), Rachel, and Lawrence (first name basis in my house), but now I can't even stand to turn to that channel. I get my US news from The Guardian and the BBC. American "news" is nothing but propaganda in one form or another.

87. Please don't watch Reid or Maddow either
Wed Dec 14, 2016, 10:34 AM
Dec 2016

The only way the MSM will get the message is if they start losing viewers and money. Sorry, but that's it! They don't give a fuck that we have Russia influencing our elections. They don't give a flying fuck about science or climate change.

They throw out Reid, Maddow and O'Donnel, in the hopes that we will forget the fact that

- For every one Reid, there are a dozen Chucky Todds
- For every one Maddow, there are a dozen Bill Halperins
- For every one O'Donnel, there are a dozen Andrea "Crypt Keeper" Mitchels

The only way to fix this shit is to hurt them in their wallet. I mean, I guess the protesters could get smart and realize it's not that far from Trump Tower to Rockefeller Plaza and storm the MSNBC Studio, but short of that...it's all "bread and circuses"

I refuse to watch even a millisecond of their bullshit going forward about this disastrous administration or the hacking scams that were ignored in the lead up to election day. I even skipped an x-mas party at a friends because I knew I would blast the stupid MF'ers there that I knew voted for the orange ahole. ( I met and worked for DRUMPF in AC in 1991 . I never thought I would detest him as much as I do today.)

That about half of the posts in this thread could be put up at Brietbart with no editing and they would fit right in.
Not sure I want to join the "don't confuse me with facts" stampede. You need to take the source into account for anything you read or hear anywhere.
Much of Trump's coverage was for the same reason a train wreck or hurricane usually leads off the nightly news.

Posters on Breitfart are full of shit. Anyone who could have watched the past 12 months of MSM coverage and come to the conclusion that Trump didn't get his balls cupped and fondled while the MSM kissed his ass wasn't paying attention.

You compare DU to Breitfart? What's your KGB call-sign comrade?

I'm right there with ya. Not one F'ing second. I haven't even turned on local news. Only Netflix and HBO Go. I've read more Magazines (Discovery, etc.) since election day that I have in the past year. I'm just not interested in any main stream news of any kind.

But I have written to them and told them to F off and that the only way they'll get me back is if Chuck Todd has a weekly segment called "F'ing Liars" reiterating the week's right-wing lies. Until then, he's dead to me.

Oh, and I dowloaded the Firefox Add-on that changes "rich asshole" to "Some Rich Asshole" all over the internet. I never have to see his name again! Now I'm waiting for the Add-on to change his pictures to cheetohs.

May we all wake up on Dec 20 with a completely new, and positive, outlook!

election night, and several people in my orbit say they've done the same thing. I believe this actually might be the death-rattle for what we once called "television." Channels are naturally migrating to content aggregator/producers like Netflix and Amazon. Local channels can be picked up using a cheap antennae if there's a storm approaching or you want the high school football score.

I don't want to continue paying those bastards for piping conservative sewage into my home.

Dec 2016

...since I haven't seen the word in the thread. I can tell you - since I have watched Rachel since election night (against my better judgement) - that they are reporting now on the things that they should have been reporting on then. Instead, they focused with idol obsession on empty podiums waiting for the d-word (I can't bring myself to say his name) to show up and with rabid obsession about irrelevant emails. They are completely ignoring the fact that they share a large part of the responsibility for the outcome of this election. And - guess what: just like the d-word, they don't care because their parent companies stand to make HUGE profits from the incoming administration. That is what it is all about. This will be the largest transfer of wealth to the smallest amount of people in the history of the world.

We all sat idly by while they stole the election in 2000. We then protested against the run-up to wars in Afghanistan and Iraq but few in the government listened. They had more information than we in the public sphere so they knew damn well there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq yet they went in anyway. Regardless of what we, the people, wanted, they new better. Mitch McConnell and the Republicans decided that they knew best what was good for the country by not letting us decide if it was important that Russia working WITH HIS CAMPAIGN to elect the D-word. The media decided the emails were the ONLY thing in the election that mattered. Nothing else attracted viewership like the emails. Now, we have an electoral college that, in spite of the "revelations" (if you were paying attention you knew this was happening BEFORE the election) and perhaps with an upcoming briefing by the CIA, will legally install the d-word into office and proceed with pillaging the world using our tax dollars to pay for it. Our "democracy" (it is really a republic) was designed to make us believe we have power in government yet we have none. Of course, there are a few exceptions to the rule but, generally speaking, the government is and has always been run by those who have been trained by (think ivy league) the establishment.

The word "boycott" came from the Irish Land League who, in 1880, ostracized Captain Charles Boycott - an "absent landlord" who was given land that had been taken from small farmers and then collected rent from those farmers who could barely eek out a living after paying rent. Read anglo history and you will see a strong pattern that suggests we are and have always been pawns of the uber rich. All of us. The atrocities committed against the Native Americans when Great Britain came to America were a direct result of policies imposed on the Irish for centuries before that. "Plantations" were places where the British sent people to live and steal the land. If the "natives" did not assimilate, they were exterminated. We, as a country, have been promoting those policies all over the globe since the beginning of the United States of America. Manifest Destiny. We are entitled. All of us bear responsibility for where we are today. We choose to ignore what is being done to natives around the globe to satisfy our entitled behavior. We all drive cars (many new, at that), heat our over-sized homes, have closets full of clothes and shoes that we never wear, have electronic gadgets from TVs to iPhones, eat food that was produced inhumanely because agricultural animals are "exempt" from humane treatment, and live in the lap of luxury when compared to the people and other animals around the world who literally give up their lives so that we can have all of this. We are more interested in what we can get than how it is obtained. Every time we buy something new or fill up our gas tanks we are implicitly supporting the policies we express disdain for. The only way to have a real impact on any of the things we object to is to STOP being part of it. Hence, the boycott. My suggestion would be that we start boycotting much more than just the MSM. We should be boycotting all kinds of things from food to clothing to cars to gasoline to ... I could go on almost infinitely. It might be inconvenient but let us stop being so selfish. We should also stop paying taxes. We have "taxation without representation". IMO, it is time we began putting our money where our mouths are and actually taking steps that will have an impact. Step up, people. The planet is dependent upon it.

I know I've spoken in a lot of generalizations here but I felt it was necessary to make a point.
