Ex-Councilman Albanese announces 2017 NYC mayoral run

JENNIFER FERMINO

Former City Councilman Sal Albanese announced he's running for mayor on Monday, the most prominent Democrat to throw his name in the 2017 City Hall race.

Albanese ran against de Blasio in the 2013 primary — where he came in eighth — and has been a critic ever since. He refused to endorse him after losing in the primary, unlike other leading Democrats who all backed de Blasio after their losses.

My former councilman and he will never defeat de Blasio. I am not a fan of de Blasio but Sal will never beat him in a primary, and Sal has issues with loyalty to the Democratic Party. It is not that he is a DINO but he has a high opinion of his sensibilities.

I can see a few people mounting a challenge to de Blasio but I doubt they win in a primary and the possible GOP candidates are laughable!

The only one that could bring de Blasio down is Bill himself and I don't put that past him.
