Today in AWESOME: A coalition of L.A.-based knitters have launched an initiative called The Pussyhat Project with the goal of making 1.17 MILLION bright pink, cat-eared (“pussy”) hats to protest Trump’s inauguration! The hats will be given to women and allies to wear at the Women’s March on Washington, as well as to folks who can’t make it to D.C. on Inauguration Day who want to demonstrate solidarity.

The coverage of this rally will report the crowd size, the demographics, and the notable speeches. It won't pay attention to the headgear, and very few people watching a video clip will understand what they're seeing, or be swayed by it. If it does something for you, knock yourself out, but don't imagine you'll be "sending a message" to anyone who didn't already support your effort.

I'm a very visual person and if I watched news coverage and saw lots of women wearing pink hats, it would peak my curiosity esp. if the hats had little ears on them. It's a nice political visual.

Women were passing out skirts to each other and to any women who did not have one. it was a great visual to see all the women in colorful skirts.

It's likely Trump means it when he says the states will decide on abortion. A majority are run by hard-right governments now, and they will pass anti-abortion laws and worry about SCOTUS later--but only if it turns out they have to.

Just maybe our crotches aren't where we should be directing the nation's attention. That's what we're saying.
