Just Curious...

Just curious....why aren't the residents of Indiana up in arms that their tax money was used to save some Carrier jobs?? I know it's a red state, but shouldn't they all be angry? Or, at least, why aren't the Democrats of that state angry???

actually be spent on automation, thus reducing the work force even more.

Yes, many are still being outsourced, many are being lost to automation, and this deal paves the way for other corporate hostage schemes. People, however, aren't so anti-corporation that they're not willing to give them something if they feel like they are getting something in return. Jobs is one hell of a return for folks.

The bigger problem is knowing that no level of anger has ever made a lasting difference. We had our moment when it appeared Pence had permanently removed himself from becoming a figure of national significance with his bumbling RFRA shenanigans - to the point where the outrage was truly bipartisan. So much for that. Apart from that, we get right-to-freeload shoved down our throats, restrictive voter ID despite an admitted lack of evidence of voter impersonation fraud... we repudiate the education policies of Mitch Daniels and his lackey Bennett and the legislature does an end-run around the clear will of the voters by stripping the state education chief of her powers.

One-party rule under the (R) flag is a disaster, and it's hard to pick the worst of it. The Carrier fleecing is small potatoes compared to the other stuff I mentioned, at least in my reckoning.

I would love the media to be out there talking about how unfair it is for the residents of Indiana to have their tax money used this way. I would love the media to have a disgruntled Indiana resident on air to talk about their grievance. Oh...who am I kidding...after all, when has the media ever come through for us??
