I cannot get over this 'election.'

Friends and relatives seem to think this is just shits and grins and they put one over on somebody.
One cousin declared Bannon and Sessions weren't bigots from her perch in New Hampshire.

I have to meditate because I can almost become incandescent with rage.
This is not an effing game!

I am beginning to burn up Facebook and I am name-checking people. They think I'm crazy and I said I had utter contempt for their passivity and acceptance of abhorrent behavior.

Trump is a horrible piece of shit! Any one that acts like him and treated opponents and others the way he did will do anything to get what they want, there is not a shred of decency in the wretched idiots body. Voters should have listened to Mittens when he said "Trump is a conman, a fake, a phony and a fraud". I got friends that voted for him, they think he is a normal person, it is beyond me for them to think like that. We are fucked!!

Didn't think anyone would miss me anyway.

But I didn't go fast enough and my sister found me and called the ambulance.

After being fixed up and spending some time talking to a therapist, I'm feeling quite a bit better (even though the world has gotten much worse).

The best technique I've encountered for dealing with all the bad news is to look the other way.

That is, when you can't fix something, just ignore it to the best of your abilities.

Usually, that involves getting immersed in some activity that you like and not paying too much attention to anything else.

I hope you find something along those lines.

Don't give up. You're not alone.

NPR interviewed some focus group guy about surveys of Trump voters (half of whom had voted for Obama), and it turns out that the respondents had totally conflated Hillary's email server deal with the Russian hacking. What a lot of us here on DU fail to realize is that we are part of the exception - the vast majority simply does not have the time to stay current on the incredible amount of news one has to take in, understand, and digest to even have the barest clue about what is really going on here.

Think back to the days when you first got involved in Internet news sources. I know I had a learning curve just determining which sources were legit. And now the number of sources has grown exponentially.

Can you imagine that a single working parent with 2 or 3 kids living paycheck to paycheck would actually have the time to stay up on what the hell is going on?

1/3 of us are straight republicans, who would back the party 100 percent if they were advocating for every parent in the country to have to throw all of their children in volcanoes.
1/3 of us are "indepedents' or people who don't vote, who have their heads so far up their asses, the majority of the time they hear republicans losing their shit and just moo and follow them.

It isn't getting better, we are in a full on digression to an authoritarian, fascist state.

Look, this country has been slipping toward republican rule for a quarter century now - while marinating in never ending and increasingly out and out conservative propaganda. Every day since the 90s they have become more and more mean, more and more aggressive and more and more detached from reality.

Fact is, on November 8th they already had control of congress and control of far more state houses, senates and governors.

This election simply was a fast forward of this and a big orange haired cherry on top of the shit sunday.

And, sorry, but what we see today is a country JUST FINE with republicans being power hungry lunatics who out if control at every level and using their power to further gin the game to their benefit AND a democratic party that has absolutely not fight in it at all.

I am not telling to get over it, everyone has to deal with things their own way.

But, I can tell you that I have seen this building my entire adult life, and on November 8th this country willingly chose to take the final step toward becoming an emergent authoritarian, fascist state.

We are there AND it is only going to get worse before/if it starts to get better because again, the country is just peachy with it right now, and it is going to take them doing A LOT of damage before the idiots in this country see past the evil liberal boogyman meme.

I tried to explain to her (and ANYONE who would listen) that those "fringe elements" were part of a unified core that was an affront to rational thought, the scientific method and pretty much all of Western Civilization since the Enlightenment.

These are not people interested in building a better tomorrow, they demand a return to a hideous past, one where religion and "feeling" over-rule analysis, data and thought. They WANT to regress civilization to a more authoritarian baseline, place white MEN at the apex of society as unquestionable rules and worst of all, they do not couch any dissent on this. Maybe then it will start to sink with these rubes. Granted, it won't help with those who have a cult mentality.

After 8 years of the idiot son, 8 years of President Obama trying to get us back in the right direction we have this. I saw some poll where 68% of Trump voters thought the stock market went down and unemployment went up during President Obama's term. I give up, I'm giving up the fight and am going to live in my own self-created bubble and save every penny because Medicare and Social Security are going the way of reasonable Republicans.

Peace

And that's the damn sad fact. If DonnyPutin is sworn in in January it will be a long road to get democracy back. They will learn. Only the 1% will be fine with it. Hell look at Gates and Musk. Apparently billionaires club is strong. They can find another PLANET if they need to. We only got this one and I hope it survives this catastrophe.
