Instead, every evil trait will just be magnified. The Presidency has never elevated anyone to be better than they are. Just look at some of them--Buchanan, both Johnsons, Wilson, Nixon, Harding, Hoover, Reagan, Dubya, the classic disasters--not one of them grew an inch in the job, and most of them shrunk precipitously. 6. I disagree about the 2nd Johnson

and as much as he still makes my skin crawl Nixon did have his merits (he's responsible for the EPA, after all). I'd also claim that the White House elevated Truman, who had been a run-of-the-mill senator before being tapped for VP. For that matter, Lincoln was a so-so politician before he became president.

But I have no such hopes for Trump.
