China says it will transfer US drone; Trump slams Beijing over incident

Washington (CNN)China's defense ministry said Saturday that Chinese authorities have decided to return a US underwater drone it seized in international waters earlier in the week, saying the US had "hyped up" the issue.

Beijing's statement comes soon after President-elect Donald Trump weighed in on the matter, calling China's action "unprecedented."

"Upon confirming that the device was a US underwater drone, the Chinese side decided to transfer it to the US side in an appropriate manner," Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Sr. Col. Yang Yujun said. "China and the United States have been communicating about this process. It is inappropriate -- and unhelpful for a resolution -- that the US has unilaterally hyped up the issue. We express our regret over that."

The statement added that the US "has been frequently deploying ships and aircraft to conduct close-in surveillance and military surveys in waters facing China. China firmly opposes such acts and demands the US cease such activities. China will stay alert over relevant US activities and will take necessary measures to counter them."

1. Trump is

setting foreign policy. He has already said he will undo a lot of what Obama has accomplished.

I'm pretty sure China has known that drone was there since the day that it arrived. Only now it became an issue to tease/troll trump with. Twitler fell for the bait, hook, line and sinker. He showed them how tough he is. Why it is almost unpresidented!

This is what happens when you put your profits before America. Call to Taiwan here, a drone there. Pretty soon Twitler will make a mistake. He is in over his head. Hell I would make a better president than Benedict Donald.

2. China did the same thing to Bush/cheney...

Remember the high/tech plane that China took away from us. Bush/cheney were very impotent until 9/11 came along. They used 9/11 to get back in the saddle again. But they never messed with China for the rest of their terms.

7. Oh they tried

with Iran. When it came time for elections in Iran, they started their saber rattling. China gets oil from Iran. They would start dumping US stocks causing a deep decline in our markets. Then Cheney would shut up and back to normal.

I believe one of the reasons they would start attacking Iran was to get their citizens afraid and vote for the tough, hardliners. The Bush cabal needed their boogie man. They were also laying the groundwork for another war for oil. China wasn't having any of that either, considering they get tons of oil from them. Part of their agreement is that China will protect it as their own. IOW mess with Iran you're messing with China.

Then in walks trump and the republicans vowing to undo the Iran nuclear deal...calling Taiwan....saying he will let Israel do whatever they want. All of this is pissing off China. If he goes to far, China will stop toying with him and get serious. Trump is incapable of being diplomatic, his shtick is to escalate and run. Leaving others to clean up his mess.

6. I'm sure that much discussion went on behind the scenes, initiated by the Obama admin.

Nevertheless, Trump will take credit and fools will believe it. In doing so, they'll complete ignore the background negotiations that invariably take place when these situations occur.

But, anything for Trump's ego.
