I just learned that John Glenn will apparently not be buried at Arlington National Cemetery until the spring. Does anyone know why they seem to be waiting so long to bury him? Is there some type of waiting period for people who want to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery? Do they not bury people at Arlington National Cemetery during the holiday season?

(32,950 posts)you can hear the machines from a long way off. Arlington Cemetery is a place that should be quieter than the normal of daily life.

They have about the same weather we have in the Carolinas, and the ground is NOT frozen here.

(1 post)According to an article published in 2014, "it takes up to seven months for interment at Arlington. 'That's how backed up they are,'" http://www.news-press.com/story/news/nation/2014/09/14/news-press-exclusive-arlingtons-burial-backlog/15599021/
