Do truck drivers (or anybody else) use CB's any more?

Reason I ask is I heard a guy tell a story about a truck driver calling him
on the road to tell him somebody was tailgating him and the person riding shotgun had a gun.

It seems to me the ONLY way that could happen is if they were communicating by CB. Otherwise how would the truck driver know the guy's number?
Come to think of it, if they WERE communicating via CB, how would the truck driver know the guy's handle?

I kind of think this guy likes to exaggerate, shall we say. I'd never thought he'd be the type that would, but I guess you never know.

That's an old scary story dating back to the 70s when everyone had CBs. briv1016 Dec 2016 #3

If I'm traveling east and it says "Fleming Carriers" on my trailer, another driver might say "eastbound Fleming" to get my attention. Not necessary to know someone's handle.

I got to the point I just kept it turned off mostly. Too much negativity on the CB.

They come in handy to talk with others out in the boonies with no cell reception.

on trips on backwoods roads with no cells. Once was able to raise two hunters who pulled me out of dicey stream crossing. Another time was able to call EMTs for someone who badly fractured a leg.
