"Sit down, Donald...there is something we need to tell you..."

You did not win in a landslide. You won the electoral vote by one of the lowest margins in our history. Also, you lost the popular vote by the largest margin of anyone...ever. So you need to stop acting like you had some great victory. You didn't.

Thanks in large part part to your disgusting words and actions during the campaign, the country is more divided than it has been in a very long time.
You need to stop pounding your chest and acting as if everybody in America loves you. They don't. They find you disgusting and unfit to hold any public office, let alone the Presidency.

Your job is not to brag and further divide our country. You need to realize that you won nothing. You willl be appointed on a technicality. If you do not have it within you to even try to unite our country, then you are not ready or qualified to hold the office you so desire. You're fired!

The problem when you use this argument, that has been used against me, is that if you take California out of it he does have the popular vote by 1.8 million. So why should we care about one very liberal state and what they want. Again not my argument.

People like to forget, or ignore, that California's population being the largest in the nation means more people are DIRECTLY AFFECTED by whatever it is that's decided in Washington. So it's more than fair - and accurate to ask - "so we don't count?"

And they sure like our tax money - more of which leaves California and goes out to the red states.

What are we, out here, anyway? Chopped liver?

We have the largest population of the 50 states.
We have the largest population of America's fastest-growing demographic: Latinos.
We have the largest Congressional delegation.
We have the largest delegation of Electors.
We have a state economy that ranks in the top ten NATIONS of the WORLD.
And more of our taxes go to everybody else but us. We consistently pay out LOTS more than we get to keep or take in and we're the ones likely doing more to keep the red states afloat.

Why do WE not rank? All these different groups of voters who yowl and whine and complain about how they've been forgotten and ignored and overlooked? Excuse me, but WHAT THE HELL???? THOSE FOLKS are all anybody talked about regarding voting groups, all year long! What about California? What about Californians? Nothing. Crickets chirping. We're almost literally fucking LAST on the primary list. The candidates never even bother with us out here except when they come out to fund-raise. But man they're on their knees to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, and the like, all through election season. With apologies to DUers from those states, I still stand firm in this opinion.

As a Californian, I resent it. Deeply. I resent that, AS a Californian, MY voice is repeatedly silenced, forgotten, ignored, and overlooked while my state is consistently and repeatedly sent to the end of the line. And again, WE'RE the biggest, with the most at risk, the most to lose, and the most people who stand to be affected by whatever is decided in faraway Washington DC. Where most of what they do, regarding California, is smirk and laugh and scoff at us. Why can't we lead? Why can't the rest of the nation follow US? Considering the direction of almost every trend from fashion to Prop 13 to pop culture to evolving social issues to multiculturalism to Reagan-everything, the rest of the nation eventually seems to, whether it thinks it wants to or not.

I'm sick of it. Those murmurs about a thing called "Calexit" are starting to speak more loudly to me by the day. Sorry to rant. But this is just galling as all hell.

California's input to the national economy and to numerous industries. More federal tax dollars flow out of California tax payers and back to other states than flows back to California. Just being 'liberal' doesn't mean it doesn't count.

Mon Dec 19, 2016, 12:52 PM
Dec 2016

people from small rural states are overrepresented because they get to have the minimum number of senators and congressman.

The 582,000 people in Wyoming and the 38,300,000 people in California still get 2 US Senators.

California is also has larger impact from infrastructure spending and other policies: farming, energy, trade, technology, military facilities, etc. due to the size and diversity of their economy. Smaller states are also impacted but their economies are less diversified and they have fewer people to place in employment positions and use of their services.

California is also the most urban state, with the most people in the most urban areas. Urban people are more impacted by many large infrastructure projects whether it is water, power, roads, pipelines, climate change mitigation, etc.

whatever victory he wins is likely already maximized in his mind

from what i've seen so far, tweets notwithstanding, he gives zero shits what anyone thinks about his job or how he does it

fully expect him to do what he knows how to do and what's gotten him this far: brag and divide us against one-another to strengthen his position, whatever it is on any given day

it will be up to American voters to fire him in 2020, should we still have a democracy with him as its president by then. i am not optimistic.

Donald Trump knows exactly what he is doing. He realizes that in some instances if you keep saying it some people will begin to believe it. Already his supporters believe he won the popular vote. How many people never thought to question, or verify whether or not Trump's electoral college win was one of the largest in history? How many people, who do not pay attention to politics, believed Trump hook, line, and sinker when he made his electoral college comment? Trump keeps repeating these lies because he knows the benefits of telling lies.
