...because as soon as people give up on the fantasy that calling Electors or the DOJ or the President is going to change anything, the sooner we can start getting organized to challenge the Republican President and Congress.

(82,383 posts)to talk about it, then I'm for talking about it. I know it won't change anything, but it will make some Rs nervous. They'd do it in that situation.
And we need to be more aware of the EC and how it works, since it has proven to be such a failure in this election. Really screwed us over.

(37,748 posts)I don't think the opinions regarding the EC has prevented us from organizing and challenging, though I understand the convenience in believing so... as it's a very simplistic either/or fallacy that humans love to engage in.

(96,882 posts)I working right now on organizing an effort to win back seats in NC in 2017, resulting from the Federal Court ruling on gerrymandering earlier this month.
What I'm not doing is distracting myself from that effort by trying to convince people that the Election outcome this year can be changed.

(102,689 posts)before general session of Congress I believe, which means we won't know until then what the actual vote turns out to be... that is if they are honest about it.

(781 posts)I was looking at a betting market the other day and betting on this issue closed at midnight last night.
Copies of the certificates are sent to multiple places. It is my understanding it will be public, just not official, before Congress counts it.

(24,951 posts)there doesn't seem to be a way out of it, unfortunately. We can and should do everything we can legally to make him wish that he hadn't won, however. Maybe he will get sick of the job and give up in four years (if not earlier). If everything ends up being as bad as almost everybody believes it's going to be over the next four years, I can't see him winning re-election in 2020 to a decently qualified Democrat. But enough people are going to have to stop acting like politics is just a "hobby" like sports and crochet and start acting like it's a matter of life and death (because it is). When people don't vote, vote in Republicans for whatever reason, or simply refuse pay attention to politics at all and they turn around and look around at crumbling infrastructure and increasingly lower standard of living and start complaining how much their lives suck, do they ever wonder if maybe *MAYBE* it's because of what is going on in their local City-Council? Statehouses? Congress? WH? Who's in charge when things are going wrong?
