These 20 people were all hand-selected by the state GOP. None of them were ever going defect.

but in Pennsylvania the electors are partisan party stalwarts. If the situation was reversed, no Clinton electors would have defected for the same reason.

I've totally given up expecting anything good. My belief in Karma has been totally eclipsed by both this election and what has been happening in my personal sphere over the past few years.

My only faint tendril of expectation is seeing if my personal hypothesis of "movement compression" is indeed the case. I theorize there has been a significant decrease in the length of the influence of any factor in modern societies. A shortened attention span has led to flash shifts in the popular zeitgeists. Probably due to the excesses of the information age. Oddly, the shifts never seem to pull toward the liberal.

Anyway, if it pans out Trumpism is a flash in the pan as I suspect it may very well be and it rapidly gives into who knows what... I will make a mental check mark that I was correct and can die reassured I was correct at least once in my life about something.

It's probably out of print, but there's a book titled "Generations" by Strauss and Howe. It delves into the 4 generations within a cycle of 80 yrs. It's fascinating reading and will give you a different prespective on the current times. The authors also have a website called thefourthturning (the end of an 80 yr cycle and the beginning of new one), which is where we are now.

As ignorant and hopeless as junior was, he wasn't *dangerous* nor show callous disregard, even animosity, toward reality.

trump is very reckless and dangerous and has displayed it time after time after time... If ever there could be hope of defections, this would be it.

But, it's not to be, because the parties always do their best to make sure electors are unquestionably faithful.

If they are just going to rubberstamp the winners of their state, why do we even bother to have them?
