Dem senator calls for 'war on drugs'

A new "war on drugs" is necessary to combat West Virginia's opioid crisis, Sen. Joe Manchin
said Tuesday.

The West Virginia Democrat's phrasing was a throwback to a highly criticized Nixon-era program of the same name.

"We need to declare a war on drugs," Manchin said on CNN Tuesday when asked what President-elect Donald Trump should do about the opioid situation.

"We've got some places that are really having some success rates, Jake, and most of them are run by reformed addicts," Manchin told host Jake Tapper

for an outrageous markup. They could be making huge bucks at $50 a pen and she's selling them for $300.

Opioids are a problem, Joe Manchin, but so is your daughter's outrageous overpricing that may cause some child to die needlessly.

He's trying to save his seat that went 42 percent above Hillary for trump.

Not excusing this war on drugs things but that's why he's doing this.

How about we start treating it like a public health issue, instead of a law enforcement one.

Oh, and states that have legal marijuana have seen a reduction in opiate abuse.
