(15,799 posts)Jackie Kennedy did a televised tour of the White House, and I wrote her a letter to thank her. To my utter amazement, a few weeks later the mailman brought a reply. It's a lovely embossed card from "the President and Mrs. Kennedy". I still have it, envelope and all.

(130,740 posts)and her interest in 'remaking' the White House. This is only ONE of the aspects of White House life I can't imagine trump etc. participating in.

(70,649 posts)Look, from the beginning 1960 when the race was between JFK & LBJ, I was for LBJ.
My 7-yrs older sister came home from college for the holidays & was BURSTING with JFK luerve - "Oh, young, CATHOLIC, good looking!!!!!!!!" That was her. I was, like, LBJ has worked all these years and who is this movie star you want?!1
So, when he got in and the rest of the drama, fine. We didn't know the personal stuff. My old mother, when we went through the funeral, with Jacqueline & Bobby propelling themselves through the ceremonies, said, perking herself up from the t.v. with DISAPPOINTMENT, "Those two are UP TO SOMETHING."
I didn't pay attention to that. But when the personal shenanigans transpired (became known), I was through with the KENNEDYs.
Now, when Marilyn's star keeps getting more and more hulibalooed (contrary to what her contemporary co-stars said), seems like she's bigger than Jacqueline.
So tonight my attention was: Why was Jacqueline's whispery voice (which we all knew) was just like Marilyn's?!1 Was that the 1960s playboys thought was the ultimate female ideal? Sorry to be a downer in somebody's thread
