[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]We may be headed into the depth of winter - in every sense of the word - but we know that Spring is coming! Never, ever lose hope.

If your post was tongue-in-cheek like I assume, this is more for other people who might get the wrong impression.

The Earth's tilt stays roughly the same with some small wobbling. The wobbling would be worse without our large Moon.

It's the tilt combined with the revolution around the Sun that determines the amount of solar radiation striking the northern and southern parts of the planet.

I never went back to her.

Her "snow globe" world, maybe?

it said "a 13 degree tilt of the Earth's axis is the REAL reason for the season."

It was not well-recieved by the general population.

Cheers!!

I assumed you would note that we are closest to the sun now (perihelion). We will be moving further away (aphelion). But that's just science, it's not fun.

I love to say at this time of year we are falling back into the fire. Totally wrong but poetic.

The post was tongue-in- cheek. Love the graphic.

It's not a terribly non-circular orbit anyway, but you're right!

Given some of the people that I've met over the years, I'm pleased that there's still people who know about tilt and elliptical orbits!

As the old English folksong says: "Summer is a comin' in!" I always think of this day as the beginning of a new year and a great summer. We are starting over again as the miracle of spring is about to begin. Take hope and work hard.

You know when you give somebody enough rope to hang themselves, they can do a lot of damage before they accomplish it. I plan on staying warm by staying angry... pissed off has worked for the right, it's time we co-opted some of the indignation.
